The celebrated Positive Discipline brand of parenting books presents the revised and updated third edition of their readable and practical guide to communicating boundaries to very young children and solving early discipline problems to set children up for success. Over the years millions of parents have used the amazingly effective strategies of Positive Discipline to raise happy, well-behaved, and successful children. Research has shown that the first three years in a child's life are a critical moment in their development, and that behavior patterns instilled during that time can have profound implications for the rest of a child's life. Hundreds of thousands of parents have already used the advice in Positive Discipline: The First Three Years to help set effective boundaries, forge strong foundations for healthy communication, and lay the groundwork for happy and respectful relationships with their young children. Now this classic title has been revised and updated to reflect the latest neuroscientific research and developments in positive discipline parenting techniques. Review: Great book - Great book, I even purchased the audio book Review: Must have for anyone with a toddler!! - Not sure how Iโve managed without this book. Itโs full of excellent guidance. The first few pages are very repetitive but once you get through its great. itโs a must have for anyone with a child under three. Iโve bought copies for two of my sisters in law, a friend & my mum whoโs got the grandchildren sometimes. Itโs useful even if your children are older as you can still understand & apply the principles. Thank you Jane for writing this book. Please provide it in Audible format, my husband & friends I know would read it.

This book is incredibly useful for first time parents
This book is incredibly useful for first time parents. It give practical advice on how to handle a lot of different situations. It's my road map to parenting and even though I don't always get it right, this book has definitely helped to steer me in the right direction.

Does not contain practical advice
I do not get how a book like that could have good reviews at all. This is the trap that made me buy it and so I think I should help others avoid. After owning it for 2 years (those hard 2 first years of my daughters life, while working full time with rare opportunity to find relaxed time to read) I made it to page 57 with great effort.. Now I've decided I should quit trying to read it. A book should not be an effort of this magnitude. what made it hard? -not well written and often repetitive and streching a point too much as if to fill a few more pages. -no practical advice whatsoever; just theory but no practical advice. example, it will tell you understanding your child's personality is important, it will add personalities are shaped by many experiences, but give you no tools or clues as to how, what things are telling for what etc. Nothing you can use. -oftentimes the book is basically assuming youre doing it wrong and telling you off. ie if a toddler doesn't listen it's because you are really not wanting them to listen, but rather you expect them to obey, adults wouldn't obey in this scenario either if you consider it, toddlers don't listen because they follow your example etc etc. These aren't the exact words used in the book but their thought process goes like that. State the problem-tell the parent they are at fault-leave it to that. If anyone else hated this book too, but has found something else that is good, practical, and easy to read, kindly recomment to me please!

A useful book!
I bought it once for myself and now I bought it as present. Really good book, giving useful tips on how to help kids build confidence and discipline and how grown ups can react during tantrums.

Low production quality
The overall production quality of the book is somewhat disappointing. The binding and cover feel quite flimsy and do not seem very durable. Great content.

Amazing book! It addresses the most pressing issues
Amazing book! It addresses the most pressing issues: emotional meltdowns (yours and your toddler's), power struggles and defiance. It also gives you great advice as to how to organize your child's routine, so it would minimize the level of stress for all of you. The book draws on research and practical experience of the authors, but it it is not at all boring. I would definitely recommend it to all new moms.
