Brown Paper School book: Math for Smarty Pants Paperback – 30 April 1982

This may be the best value maths book ever written. It is excellently produced, with high quality cartoons and writing which is funny and lively without trying too hard to be cool. The book is packed full of strategy games, riddles, "mathemagic" tricks and number investigations. I've used over 20 of the items in my KS3 / KS4 maths lessons, including the round table investigation which is one of the best puzzles I've ever come across for this age group. The book would also make a good gift for an 11-12 year old who is keen on maths and prepared to self-study. The best book of its kind I've ever found.

My three children loved this book when they were young (7 to 12 years old}. I just gave copies to their children and watched them love the book also.

A brilliant, fun book for adults and young people alike. Packed with interesting activities and maths facts. Best maths book I have read.

An old college friend (who happens to be a math PhD) recommended this book for my wild-about-math 6yo, and he won't put it down! He ADORES this book - I just wish it were a little sturdier, I'm not sure how much abuse it can take :)

This book really shows kids that maths can be done everywhere and can be fun.
