Brilliant!
Helps significantly with understanding each book in The Odyssey - I personally find it best to look through the summary of the book just before you’re about to actually read whichever book (especially books 1-5 of The Odyssey if you don’t know all the context). Nearing the end of my first term in sixth form studying Classics and is helping so so much.

Quite good but in my opinion, lacks something
I got this book for my AS level in Classical Civilisations. While the plot summaries are good, I feel like I wanted a little more through questions or maybe some more analysis. I used York Notes for my GCSE in English Literature and it was full of questions and helpful theories about certain parts of the book. Don't get my wrong, this book is ideal if your studying and simply revising content (which I am often doing for in-class tests) but if you want more in-depth stuff then possibly look elsewhere?)It is probably helpful to note however that I havn't gotten to the critical responses part of the book and maybe that is where my in-depth knowledge which I shall need for my AS will be held? I hope so!But like all my reviews, this is simply a matter of personal opinion and others have probably found it much more useful than myself.Overall, if your studying and want simply content notes and work on themes/characters then get this book. If you can't really be bothered to read the Odyssey (which kinda defeats the objective in my opinion) then get this book. But if your looking for some great, well-versed book which delves into Homer's thoughts and possible attempts at imagery, then maybe this book isn't for you..... But it's still a great book to have :-)

classic
Bought this for my son's uni class. It's a great story that everyone should read at least once. Good translation.

Could have been better
The summaries of each Book and the notes on the characters are useful to an extent, but the book itself is not very well laid-out and does not go into a great deal of depth. I bought this book as I was studying the Odyssey at AS Level, but did not find it very useful. May have been more useful to someone studying at GCSE Level, but, even then, I would have expected a greater level of analysis.
