MESSAGE is 5 stars & PRINTING is 2 stars
Fr Mascall is amazing and the message/content of the book is amazing. If you are interested in the material covered in this book then it's close to a must read.Fr Mascall is VERY knowledgeable with a full range of both Christian and non-Christian philosophy (and Christian theology). It's a rare treat to find someone who is writing from, and championing, a Christian way of being while at the same time addressing and responding to non-Christian philosophy (all the while giving all the material he's addressing it's due, and with respect). He summarizes and clarifies, in a few pages, what would otherwise be 100s of pages of philosophical/theological material to understand. He does this with wit and humor and he doesn't straw-man or caricature other people's work.He also introduces several prominent recent important Christian theologians. If you're interested in the material Fr Mascall is sharing in this book then I believe it will be either a must read, or at least a very enjoyable adventure. The printing is awful. Very frequently the size of the text is either crunched or stretched, and often on the same page it alternates between being squished and then stretched. In some places the text is stretched AND smeared. I've included one image of the text at the top of the page being stretched and smeared. There are other various places where the text on the side of a page is cut off. Generally you can still, with effort, make out what the missing text is.This is a REPRINTING of an older published book.Fr Mascall is (was) such an important and significant voice/person that his works are being reprinted. This is a wonderful thing, but there's no excuse to do such a terrible job reprinting such amazing work.

An injustly forgotten philosopher
A great book by an injustly forgotten philosopher. Father Mascall' s works about philosophical theology rank among the best I ever read and I am proud to discover that I have about him the same opinion of such important a theologian as David Bentley Hart. I hope more of Father Mascall work will soon be published. My copy has none of the flaws the other reviewer wrote of.
