No sound
First one had no sound, this was v promptly dealt with and a replacement was sent. This had the same problem. Bit of a pain to have to send it back, though amazon do make it quite easy.

The Chuck Jones era of Tom & Jerry cartoons
The Tom And Jerry Classic Collection continues in chronological order; Volumes 1-4 had the Hanna-Barbera cartoons commissioned by Fred Quimby, while Volume 5 had the remains of the Hanna-Barbera era on Side 1, and the Gene Deitch era on Side 2.Volume 6 contains all 34 Tom & Jerry cartoons from the Chuck Jones era. Censorship isn't an issue on this volume; if any cuts were made to these cartoons I didn't notice them. These are different to the Hanna-Barbera episodes of the '40s and '50s, with more of a Looney Tunes/Roadrunner feel to them. In general this volume isn't up to the standards of Volumes 1-4, but Chuck Jones's style will appeal to some and I think some of the cartoons are quite funny. At any rate, I think these cartoons will appeal to most people more than those of the Gene Deitch era, which were the main cause of the low review scores Vol 5 received. If you're a Tom and Jerry fan and you own the first four or five volumes, or you've seen Chuck's T & J efforts in the past and liked them, I consider Vol 6 a recommended purchase. Otherwise, you're probably better off sticking with the Hanna-Barbera episodes, which were the original and best.

Tom and Jerry
Brilliant classic stuff. I watched them all the time when I was young. They don't make cartoons like that anymore. I love Ardman Animations though.
