It's quick! *edit* before drivers from Dell
Got this to replace the 5540 WWAN card in my Dell XPS 15 L502x laptop. The 5540 maxes out at 7.2Mbps, this can connect up to 21Mbps!In real world use, I usually got around 6-6.2Mbps on the old card - understandable given that some bandwidth is lost on overhead. With the new card installed, I'm getting 14Mbps+ at all times. I'm on Three in the UK, and use my laptop around London, and in Yorkshire.Even better, the GPS actually works on this unit (but that was probably a defective 5540 unit...).Installation is a breeze - 3 screws to open the center bottom panel, disconnect 2 antenna cables (make sure you get the WWAN card! Not the WAN card!), remove 1 screw and the old card pops up. Reverse to install new card. Make sure you download the drivers from Dell beforehand. The file labelled "R298998" works for me on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.Do make sure your service provider supports high speeds before buying! In the UK, I know Three does up to 21Mbps depending on location. No idea about the others. If you're a road warrior and use mobile data most of the time, this is a fantastic purchase!*Edit* after using for 7 months, the problems I've had can all be traced back to bad drivers/support from Dell - good hardware let down by bad software. I've reduced my rating accordingly.
