And this is definitely a big hammer. Superb build quality as usual from Estwing. The metallic blue paint against polished steel is eyeball-achingly beautiful. The 'hammer tooth' tooth is quite wide (approx. 5mm) and grips joists without excessive marking. Tried it out and was pleased with the results ie. it worked! Haven't had to use the tooth in anger yet but knowing that if the need arose the thing actually works is reassuringly satisfying. As for the hammer itself, at 22oz this is a heavy hammer and makes anything from 4" - 6" a breeze. Very well balanced, it caused less fatigue than expected, the Shock Reduction Grip works and provides a very secure and comfortable grip. The shaft length is not too long at around 13" which helps my short legs when I holster it. Very highly recommended.

Decent hammer one little thing to know is the grip on the hammer is very very slippy in your hand or with gloves meaning you have to hold it extra tight and after a long day of use your wrist and elbow will be feeling it

Does what it says on the tin

I purchased this for building a stud wall in my house, the hook under the claw end of the hammer is a lifesaver for this, as the wood I was able to get had a slight twist in it, the hook allows it to lock over the wood at one end, and twist it straight while you drive in screws. Highly recommended
