a capable multiroom speaker
Reading mixed reviews about this speaker, I was at first sceptical and bought the Onkyo vc-px30 instead. This turned out to be a very unreliable speaker, which constantly became unresponsive and needing to be rebooted all the time. I had a feeling that at least in part the wifi connectivity was to blame. In the end, I returned it for a refund. When the NCP arrived, I didn't even try it on wifi; located next to the router in the kitchen, it was easy and preferable to connect via network cable. Setting up and updating was very straight forward, and it seamlessly and reliably integrates with the main Onkyo network receiver in the sitting room and another NCP in the study, which I bought having been so pleased with the NCP in the kitchen.I mostly use the play-fi app, but the speaker is capable of connecting in may different ways, the ones I have tried all working faultlessly. When connecting via flare-connect, as other reviewers have mentioned, it causes picture and sound to go out of sync. If your aim is to watch TV and have the sound play on all flare-connected speakers, this is not going to work. Playing music only from whatever medium will work fine however. The sound quality is refreshingly natural, without unreal heavy base , which I find annoying after a while. This makes the speaker also ideal for radio as spoken voice comes over very clearly.Verdict: This is a great value multi-room speaker for a small room.

Play Fi did not integrate between Philips and Onkyo
Thr idea of Play Fi integrating products by different manuafacturers to produce a seemless Sonos like multi speakers system is sadly ( Insert negative word here) This device proved almost impossible to integrate and sadly I sent it back. The sound was fine and comparable to the Philips version we subsequnetly purchased. Onkyo had a fine name and I have owned their products, but this product left me with such a poor view, when I looked at purchasing a new UHD TV there were several for sale with Onkyo speakers, we have swerved from them. We also had to chase the supplier to get the refund, which they dodged and told us to claim from Prime, but my view is that they did not contact Amazon to let them know that they had received the product. A shame as I have been a fan of Onkyo.

Not ideal
Does the job but really is a pain to get set up. Sound is reasonable but bass is a bit light compared to some other (smaller) speakers I've used. Had it a few days and connection has been a bit erratic. When grouped as an extention speaker there is a significant time lag which means it cannot be used with my TV input. Seller is not Onkyo as (misleadingly) stated. Nevertheless seems to be working but have some reservations still.

Great all round speaker
I now have 5 of these speakers , and very happy with the way they work. After buying an Onkyo AV receiver two years ago it’s taken me two years to get a genuine all house and garden system , having tried many methods . Fundamentally you need all your units to be from the same manufacturer. Secondly if you want to stream high res music then you really need Ethernet connections on each unit. Fire or Flare connect is brilliant , much better than chromecast . It’s stability across my five speakers is excellent . It’s a shame that Roon does not recognise the NCP 302 ,but you can connect through chromecast in built, but I avoid this as it restricts streaming to 48 kHz . Instead I use a simply audio room player as a Roon endpoint connected to my Onkyo receiver , I then group my 5 NCP 302’s to my receiver and it works brilliantly

Not very user friendly.
Very difficult to set up and it kept loosing wi-fi signal even when it was in the same room as my Onkyo network receiver.sent back for a refund.

Firmware buggy as hell / Chromecast doesn't work. No support from Onkyo
Sounds is great - but Onkyo have forgotten about this device. Chromecast is dismal, barely ever works. No new firmware or fixes. Avoid and get a more recent/better supported model

Connection nightmare
When I first got it, it was great and I was vmvery pleased .... Yes connecting it to the WiFi wasn't straight forward, but was so bad.... Servral months of, it started to drop out take awhile to connect or start up. And now I've upgraded my router, it won't connect. The app also (which is needed for setup recently changed too and now I can only get it to work on a wired network. The app says it connects the drive to the network, but then fails to connect to product. And the light continues to blink with no WiFi connection

Awful
Absolute awful product. Would not connect to WIFI after hours of trying. Bluetooth works but sound isn’t the greatest. Had to return as faulty
