This stained on my first use. Is this normal?

I washed it before using with a mild soap and it did not stain . I do not know if that is the reason , but nothing unpleasant happened .

Is this a good pan for roasting a whole chicken?

The pan is not deep enough for a whole chicken. You could roast on the cookie sheet pan if the chicken was cut into pieces.

CHINA of course... Stainless it isn't - it stains so I line the pan with Alum foil and when broiling I cover the rack with Alum foil with slots cut in to drain fats to the pan. For me it's a lot easier than using the full oven broiler pan and the Alum foil reduces cleanup to 1/10th the time & effort.
