Really Great Pack With Potential for Improvement
I spent an embarrassing amount of time obsessing over contenders for my edc pack and this one won out. I’m happy with it; good price, comfortable to carry, holds a ton of weight (I’ve carried 53lbs in it so far), has tons of room and for an athletic guy at my build (6’0” 208lbs), it doesn’t feel like a ton of awkward bulk on my frame and all the straps distribute the weight well on longer walks when I’m carrying a lot.The compression straps do a great job of managing pack profile, whether barely- or fully-loaded. The compartments are well-thought out and generous. I like the big loop material panel on the inside of the main compartment (I have so many morale patches and it’s fun to be able to carry a bunch with me to swap out on a whim), and I could see this being useful if I needed to have tear-away packs on my person, too. The stitching and material both seem pretty quality. The color matches issue Air Force boots exactly, which I’m dainty enough to admit was a *minor factor* in buying but not enough to sway a better functioning option—this just happened to check both boxes. (Tbh I kind of wish this were available in ocp, and would literally buy a second one if so)I really like that it’s 72hr capable but still makes sense as an edc. If I were a smaller person I might not feel the same way, but I also carry my kitchen sink around for “End Times” shenanigans, so like… maybe not, come to think of it.Some things I’d like different in the next version? If there’s a way to make the admin panel on the front detachable, it’d be a huge win. Condor makes one like that but I specifically avoided Condor like the plague they are. Also, the laser cut PALS lattice seems a little thin, which could just be in my head and it might be totally fine but it just looks and feels like it won’t support much weight; time will tell when I actually start mounting accessories on this bag—if I ever even need to. Other packs I considered have thicker material here and that’s a noticeable thing but maybe it’s fine?I appreciate the schoolbag-style stitched pockets for pens and other accessories in the admin panel, but in all honesty the material used for this feels like the weakest link of the construction—that same nylon type canvas that is used in Jansport style bags that rips if you so much as machine wash them…so it doesn’t instill the most confidence, but I do use them. Honestly I would have paid a little extra if the insides featured more PALS panels or webbing, or more loop material to mount my own pouches inside, instead. The waterproofing is kind of a Schrödinger’s Cat thing—it’s both there and not there. The interior of the pack has a vinyl coating that stops water from getting in, but water still gets in around the zippers. If you’ve been out in the rain, plan on opening this puppy up completely for at least a night to dry out. There is a zippered compartment just above the logo at the bottom of the bag that is a pretty sensible spot to stow a pack bonnet to avoid this, but for the life of me I can’t understand why the manufacturer didn’t just sew or button one in here and charge slightly more for it.Lastly, any hydration pack tube routed up through either port beside the carry handle is going to fight with your glasses if you put any kind of glasses in the dedicated glasses pouch. Safety glasses or sport glasses won’t have a hard time with this but thinner wireframes might. At any rate, I’d still recommend to anyone who isn’t shy of carrying a bigger pack at a good price and wants some good features and expandability, even if they aren’t in uniformed services. It’s a sensible pack with great features at a fair price and plenty of potential.Fun fact: There are a couple of loops at the bottom for 1” webbing…you can roll a fleece tight enough to leash to the bottom of the pack using a couple 1” flat elastic blousing straps.(:

Surprisingly solid piece of kit
I learned about this bag through Reddit while looking at more expensive bags made by competitors. I took a 'leap of faith' and bought this bag. I absolutly love it! Functional, well put together, and literally has everything I need to pack 72-hour emergency kit and more!

Quality
I’ve owned 5:11 backpacks for the last 8 years. This bag is super quality for the price. I don’t like the buckles with respect to quality but this bag is worth the money!
