Wonderful collection
Worth the time and effort. Some selections are better than others. Might be more interesting to choose a book by a (potentially) preferred writer and go more in depth. My suggestion would be William James.

Good survey of core pragmatists
A great follow-up reader in pragmatism for those who loved _The Metaphysical Club_, or for those just interested in pragmatism generally. A good survey of Pierce, Holmes, James, Dewey, etc. from which to branch off further.

Everything old is new again
Menand has thoughtfully compiled a collection of some of the most seminal works written by adherents to the philosophy of pragmatism ranging from the first generation of pragmatist such as Peirce, James, and Dewey to the contemporary pragmatism of Rorty, Putnam, and West. Although several of the articles date from the mid 1800's, topically, their insights and conclusions still remain relevant to many of the issues and concerns dominating philosophical discussions today.

Excellent!
Could be considered the "sequel" to the other "Pragmatism" (by William James.) James sort of sketched the landscape and this book fills in the detail, with color. If you haven't read James's book, read it first, then this one. Both eminently readable, but only for those who are into such things.

I was disappointed to find that even in a condensed Reader volume
I was disappointed to find that even in a condensed Reader volume, Pragmatists haven't really got much to say. They are pleased to dismiss much of all past philosophy, but can't come up with reasons anywhere on the level of past philosophy.

The book is horribly written. Not clear at all, yet they strive to want to be clear.
