Perfect Gift for Mothers Who Read Cozy Mysteries
I read THE MAID by Nita Prose in February and I think it is the perfect character-driven Cozy Mystery to give to my mom & my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. ❤If you took the mathematical equation of Amelia Bedelia + Angela Landsbury + a sprinkle of Christopher Boone (from The Curious Incident of the Night-Time) = Molly Gray in THE MAID.The story is full of mystery, humour, an upscale hotel, a murder, and a whole lot of cleanliness. It is a novel that will make you smile and allow you to escape the world-that-is-on-fire, even if only for a few hours. It also has bonus quotes from Molly's Gran, that every Grandma has shared with their children and grandchildren through the years. How Molly interpret's her Gran's rules provides the reader with loads of humour. If you love reading Cozy Mysteries, this book is for you.

A fun cozy mystery
While I didn’t hate debut novel, The Maid, I don’t think it lived up to the hype. It sounded like a crazy murder mystery thriller type but it was more like a cozy mystery, which I don’t mind, I was just expecting something different.Molly was confusing. She went from being this quirky, clueless, socially awkward maid who incidentally tiptoed around right and wrong to being an intelligent, highly observant schemer who knew exactly what she was doing, hiding behind her awkwardness to protect the less than innocent. She seemed to be two vastly different people and so I went from liking her and finding her endearing to just feeling confused. While other characters were charming, I found there were quite a few stereotypes that were rather obvious and a bit uncomfortable. The novel itself was moderately paced, had a few good twists. I found the book in its entirety to be okay. I am glad I read it but it just didn’t blow me away.

Don't judge a book?
If I didn't need to read this for book club, I would have returned it just for the appearance. I am a retired bookbinder and this is the worst finishing I've ever seen on a book. It should never have passed inspection. I will be very wary of purchasing books from Amazon in future.

Great Canadian mini mystery with unusal main character
I liked this novel. The presentation of main character was developed so well I felt I was the main character. Someone unusual and unique, with a very one-of-kind perspective within this story. Covered a lot of the current social issues, low wages, rotten landlords, poverty and the age old argument of the haves vs. the have nots, but kindness and civility is maintained in several underdogs in this mystery. Quick and easy read without revealing the murderer. A must read if you like a murder mystery. Btw: even the police detective reflects our current social attitude toward police. Interesting....

My 86 year old mom loved it
Mom says it was very exciting to read, and very good. Easy to read in waiting room, etc. and a real page turner. She really enjoyed this book, and the author asks for feedback on this story, which is kind of cool. I read Florence Pugh has bought the rights to make it into a film. Mom says it would work well as a film. Mom gives it 5/5.
