Great Book
More that just a normal cookery book. Good reading, good recipes, including meat, seafood, breakfast, puddings and cocktails. Highly Recommended.

Not just a cookbook!
I'm fortunate enough to have eaten at a Hawksmoor restaurant and if you think that it's only a steakhouse chain, you're very much mistaken. It has become a London institution, synonymous with serving hearty fare in a relaxed environment. As soon as I saw this book, I had to buy it. If it was to come anywhere near to emulating my dining experience in the restaurant, I knew I would be in for a treat.The book begins with the story behind the iconic Hawksmoor Restaurants. It then goes on to cover all apsects behind the meat: breeds, selection, slaughter, ageing, cuts and cooking. Anyone who eats meat of any kind, should read this section, in my opinion. There is a surprisingly wide selection of recipes, ranging from basic steak in butter to braised short rib of beef. This is proper hearty food, not the sort that you would eat every day by any means, but the book exudes a certain attention to detail on simple, classic flavours. It's not just beef either, there is a healthy section on seafood, as well as side dishes, breakfasts and desserts. Not to mention a chapter on cocktails and even which wines to serve with food (in particular a chart that recommends different wines for different cuts of steak). It's also wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated.I really can't wait to try out the recipes. Ones that stand out for me are the real basics; there are recipes for homemade ketchup, dripping cooked chips, pickled cabbage and even burger buns. Any true food lovers will love this; it is so much more than just a cookbook.

Gives a great deal of info on cuts of meat etc but only has 3 main course meat recepies, steak, burger and hot dogs which I suppose is what they sell I was just expecting a few more recepies. Overall happy with this, has fish and breakfast recepies as well as Hawksmoor cocktail recepies which are very cool.

Brilliant
Having eaten at Hawksmoors on many occasions and enjoyed every single visit (the best steakhouse chain in London without doubt) buying this book was rather a no brainier for me. Although I will probably never be able to recreate the exact same restaurant fare this book will let me get as near as is possible.The book itself is beautifully laid out, wonderfully written and the photographs are excellent. The book starts with the story behind the Hawksmoor Restaurants. It then covers all aspects the meat used in the restaurants including breeds, selection, slaughter, ageing, cuts and cooking. There is a good selection of recipes. It's not just beef either, there is a section on seafood, as well as side dishes, desserts and breakfasts. There is also a section on cocktails. Overall, a lovely cookery book and a valuable addition to my kitchen library.As an update the lobster with garlic and hazelnut butter was superb!

A clarion call for British Beef
Messes Gott Beckett and Turner assisted by Tim Wilson on his farm have hopefully saved British beef from descending into the USDA abyss of mass produced rubbish. This book should be on the shelves of every aspiring butcher restaurateur and home cook - desserts, cocktails and all.Quality not quantity should be our aim.

Hawksmoor at Home
I'm a big fan of the restaurant and this book is a fantastic representation of the food they make but in the comfort of your own home. It's transformed the way I cook steak as well as numerous other dishes that I've not tried when I've eaten there.This book isn't just for people who've eaten at the Hawksmoor restaurants but for anyone who enjoys simple but high quality food that's prepared and cooked to perfection. Their ketchup recipe alone is worthwhile making and in my opinion challenges Heinz as your ketchup of choice.The cocktails are great as is their advice on wines for different cuts.Definitely buy this book.

A must for your collection.
Excellent cookbook! It also had a lovely marmalade recipe... ive already made two batches which were polished off quick as a flash by the wife and mother in law!

Not Just a Cookbook!!!
I love this book. It has so many interesting facts, both historical and recent, and is also a great read along with the beautiful receipes.I recommend this book.

あのHawksMoorの味を自宅で!
昔ロンドンに行ったときに、このレストランで食べた。たしか、映画「ステーキ・レボリューション」でも取り上げられた店のひとつだ。店員がお薦めしてきたリブ・アイをミディアムレアで頂いたのだが、かなり美味しかった。そのレストランの料理本ということで、ついつい買ってしまった。肉の部位についての解説、旨いステーキの焼き方、牛以外の肉料理、サイドディッシュの作り方など、いろんな料理方法を学ぶことができる。まぁ最低でも4センチ厚の肉を買え、とか日本で真似するなら肉代だけで結構な値段になりそうだけど、旨く焼けるならば肉は自分で焼くのが一番安く旨くできる。今までは「美味しんぼ」の初期にでてきた小伝馬町のステーキ老人のやりかたを参考にしていたが、これからはHawksMoorを真似てみます。

Anti fogmatics
I visited the restaurant in London (the Seven Dials one) in October 2015. The menu listed several "anti fogmatics" as a list of drinks to imbibe. I saw that the Bloody Mary No. 8 was on the menu, so I ordered this cocktail. I was blown away with the taste of it, particularly since it used gin instead of vodka. After a fruitless search for the recipe on the internet, I was so happy to find the recipe for it in this cookbook! There are many wonderful recipes for various classic British dishes, which I have yet to recreate at home in the United States. (I even ordered a second one as a gift for my sister's birthday which occurs later this year! Shhhh!)

I love this restaurant. I go every time I can when I am in London. Well try the restaurant and buy that book!
