The wait was worth it...
Now at first I myself, a huge Killers fan, was disapointed on first listen. It didn't do anything for me. I guess I imagined the whole sound of the album to be a lot different after comments made by the band earlier this year that there was going to be a lot more guitars etc. I guess I was expecting each song to be huge and explosive. However after putting aside the expectations I had for this album and realising that each record by The Killers has a different sound, I could really appreciate it. When 'Sam's Town' was released, the follow up to the renowned 'Hot Fuss', I was not interested and didn't really give it a chance (which I think most of those giving negative reviews for 'Battle Born' have done.) Then eventually I couldn't stop listening to it. The same thing happened with 'Battle Born'. 3 listens later and I realised that this is just a masterpiece. I don't know what it was but when I started from track 1 again, 'Flesh and Bone' really just made me think THEY'VE STILL GOT IT! All the tracks are in fine flow. The ballads and slow tempo tracks really struck home, as well as the country style 'From Here On Out' which has a similar sound to that off Flowers 'Flamingo' album. There is just a perfect mix of styles.I've always been a huge fan of their lyrics as they're so inspirational, motivational and meaningful. You can really relate to them. Not only that but they are delivered with extreme sincerity and passion by Brandon Flowers. That's why the line ' I don't want your picture on my cellphone, I want you here with me...' can be taken seriously for me. If it was I don't know, Pitbull (no disrespect), I'd probably cringe. All the band members play a huge part in this album, with Brandon's strong unique voice (which only seems to be getting better), Ronnie being great as always and Mark and Dave being solid with the odd guitar solo making an appearance here and there. I don't want to say that they were immature or anything before because they really weren't, it just seems they've really grown up on this album.Favourite songs for me personally are 'Flesh & Bone', 'The Way It Was', 'A Matter of Time', 'Miss Atomic Bomb' and 'Battle Born'. They're the ones I listen to the most anyway. All of the songs are 10/10 for me, even the Bonus tracks, although I really wasn't feeling the 'Flesh & Bone' Remix.Despite all four of The Killers official albums being 5 star for me, if I were to have an order it would probably be:1.Sam's Town2.Battle Born3.Day & Age4.Hot FussSome are probably seeing 'Hot Fuss' down there and thinking 'what!?' Like I said all are top notch for me, but personally my order is based on what the lyrics mean to me and how inspiring it is. All those saying "they don't sound like they did on Hot Fuss" really annoy me. No doubt about it, it was a classic, but if they were to produce each album with that sound i'd get bored. That's what is so great and likeable about them, they're diverse and have a different sound for each album. Giving me hope of great music amid all the nonsense that's played in the charts. A bit cliché but true nonetheless. Can't wait to see them later this year. And also, don't download it. Buy the deluxe edition, with the cool case and bonus tracks!

beautiful!!!
I am 23 years old and The Killers have got to be the only band I have ever truly been obsessed with - mostly because Im completely in love with Brandon Flowers as I think he is not only cute, but he also has a lovely pesonality & I wish there were a lot more people in the world - or at least one like him that I could have!.I got into the killers in 2008 when I kept hearing 'Human' & 'space man' being played at work - which are great songs so soon I ended up buying day & age and from that monent I was hooked I just could not stop playing it and my mum even started to borrow it aswell. I soon decided to get Hot fuss,Sams town & saw dust which I also ended up loving - Smile like you mean it, Mr Brightside, Some body told me, all these thing that I've done, Sam's town - both versions,Bling, this river is wild, when you were young, read my mind (love the music vid to this),Tranqulize, sweet talk, all the pretty faces, losing touch, space man, this is your life, human & a crippling blow are my most favorite killers songs - well I actually love most of their songs perhaps not all of Hot fuss and Im not too keane on a couple from sam's town but these seem to be the ones I end up listening to the most!.I also love Brandon's solo album -I think its beautiful.Anyway I am sort of going off topic! sorry!.So here is what I think of Battle born. Now after being used to their latest CD Day & Age for the past 4 years or so I wasn't sure if they could get any better. Now I noticed quite a few reviews say that this album grows on you and this is exactly what happened with me - at the 1st listen I wasn't sure if I liked it.Then my mum asked to hear it and then she told me to listen to it again and this time pay attention to the lyrics of the songs which I did. Then after about 2 or 3 listens I finally realised that this is an amazingly beautiful album - Brandon's voice just keeps getting better & better! I now can't seem to stop listening to it and can't believe that I couldn't make up my mind about it at first! I have loads of other various CDs but every time I want to listen to music, I end up putting this on every time now. Here is what I think of each song on Battle born:Flesh & Bone: This song is epic & probably one of the best songs of the decade 10/10Runaways: I really love this song but unfortunatly I personally wouldn't say it was the best on the album 9/10The way it was: wasn't too sure about this at first but it has really grown on me & I now love it 10/10Hear with me: now truth be told I didn't like this at 1st & I actually found it to be a bit annoying, however after a few listens I realized it's actually a lovely song making me wish I could find Brandon & just hug him for as long as humanly possible! 9/10A matter of time: still not too sure about this one but it will probaly eventualy grow on me in time 8/10Deadlines & comminments: love it 10/10Miss atomic bomb: Ahhh I belive this is the sequal to the fantastic Mr Brightside!!! 10/10The rising tide: Again not to sure about this as although it has some good lyrics, Im not too sure if I like the sound of it 8/10Heart of a girl: Now this is a truly lovey song with beautiful lyrics that brings tears to the eyes 10/10From hear on out: this is a lively country style song which brightens up the mood after hearing heart of a girl 10/10Be still: again this to me brings slight tears to the eyes, but is also a lovely song 10/10Battle Born: the title song which is as good as it could be! love it. 10/10Carry me home: really love the sound of this 10/10Flesh & Bone remix: Unfortunatly I found this to be a bit annoying and no where as good as the original flesh & bone 4/10Prize fighter: I think this is a fun country style song but again its not one of my favorite on the album 8/10So there you have it! I hope this is some help as Im not great at giving reviews.Even if your not a Killers fan or have never heard them I would highly recommend that you give this a try. Thanks for reading.Blessed be!
