Replaced an old one with this on existing wires off a transformer on the lighting circuit. It won't ring from the existing or a new bellpush. Help!

Can anyone explain the difference between diagram 2b and 2c in the instructions? I have transformer and illuminated press, not sure which to use...

2C: the bell push (the button) is connected in series 2B: the bell push (the button) is connected in parallel. Use this option if you're connected 2+ buttons (e.g. one outside, and one inside the porch)

i have no manual showing the connection for terminals 1,2,3&4 can any one help
