Is the soft padding removable, if so does it look like a regular model with ribbed faux leather effect?

I don't think you can remove the padding, it seems to be fixed to the chair. The faux leather has a smooth finish. Generally these chairs are good quality, we have several of them. They do need putting together carefully thought.

Great for the money

The chair is super-comfortable. The fabric between the back and seat is creased and makes the chair look a bit cheap as a result, but that aside I'm happy with it.
