Fantastic traps - worked so quickly!!
We have had a rat getting into our guinea pig hutches and tucking into their food bowls. Obviously this could not go on and the rat was getting braver and doing it in the middle of the day so we ordered these traps and also modified the hutches so hopefully no more rats can gain access. The traps arrived today a couple of hours ago. We set them up using a small amount of guinea pig pellets and I have just been outside and there is a dead rat!!! I am so pleased with the traps, they are easy to use, the mechanism feels very sturdy and they are definitely up to the job having killed one in 3 hours from putting it down!!!! Money well spent!

Well built, does the job for larger rodents
We had some uninvited guests in our loft this winter. Some were clearly smaller rodents, some larger. These worked great on the larger ones - anything from large mouse and up will trigger it and result in a quick humane kill. Using a small mouse trap is not humane and the animal may not die immediately. We used a pair of these initially to elimate the larger rodents, then a pair of small mouse traps took out the remaining smaller animals. These are easy to set and seem fairly well buily and not falling apart after quite a bit of service. Couple of nice features too - a baiting 'pot', bright yellow indicator where the strike edge is (easy to get mixed up otherwise and grab the wrong side of the trap.. ouch), and simple arming.Note these will not trigger with small mice/shrews etc - they can sit on the them and eat the bait :).Thumbs up from me.

Did the job.
Got the little blighter on the second try. The first time he triggered the trap he managed to escape (traps are light so flip up in the air, which I think allows him to just miss the bar). Re baited and left. Took 24hrs for him to come back (twice as shy I guess) but found an ex rat this evening. Job done. 4 stars as he got away the first time. Peanut butter is the best bait.

Best mouse/rat trap of the many we tried (bought these and also smaller mouse traps as we weren't sure which rodents we had)
We have had an infestation of mice so have tried all sorts of traps. The "live capture" traps did not catch any mouse even though placed in "active" areas. The Ultra Power Trap case impressed me because it can be left in "active" areas all day and night, without concern it could hurt household pets or children. I suppose it WOULD work if a mouse ventured inside, but no mouse has been tempted to enter. The Big cheese Ultra Power Mouse traps (one of which is inside the enclosed case) seem to be effective -- they are easy to set up and the mechanism responds to very light tough. HOWEVER, no mouse has tested it. We have 6 placed in various spots around the house and not a single one has been touched by a mouse. One evening, I saw a mouse walk into my dining room and long the skirting board but it walked right by the trap without even looking at it. I suspect the "fresh bait" is not attractive, should would try it another time with different bait.We did catch two mice with Aspectek mouse traps, baited with walnuts and a bit of peanut butter. I don't know if the success of Aspectek is that it is a "better mouse trap" or if it is the bait that was better. Finally, given we knew there were still mice in the house (droppings and chewed up bin bags gave them away), we used sticky boards and caught two mice within an hour. I know they are frowned upon, so we used them as a last resort, Our impression is that the mice did not suffer on the sticky mat (i.e. the mat itself is not painful, as I know from having a finger stuck on it myself). My husband dispatched it with a single sharp blow which presumably was not more painful than the sharp blow of the mouse trap -- or at least that's what we tell ourselves. For now, we think we are mouse-free and we think we will use normal mouse traps with nuts and peanut butter if we need to rid ourselves of mice again in future.Oh... we also tried a battery/electrical trap (bought in a shop) that supposedly kills mice with a single, quick shock. No mouse has entered the box, so we know only that it is not "attractive" but do not know if it would work to kill a mouse quickly.

Effective, but be very careful where you put them
Simple, cheap and effective.First I tried a battery powered rat-zapper. One mouse in 4 weeks before it stopped working, so don't bother.Next, I tried these 'traditional' rat traps. I placed them carefully, because we have cats and small dogs, so I had to make sure they couldn't get at them.Result - 4 rats killed within 24 hours, and 2 more within a week.BUT, I just had to rescue a baby rabbit still trying to hop around while trapped by one of these. It was awful.Lesson: ONLY put them where pets and other wildlife cannot reach them. I've left a couple baited inside my garage, where only mice and rats can get to.

traps
we have had problems with rats for years. I have tried so hard to make it so the rats can't get into my garden, even putting chicken wire under neither my garden, But alas, they still got in. I had it, so at that point I bought these rat traps. had it for less then 24 hrs and got one over night. so glad I got these, saw one of the reviews who had advice to put peanut butter in the food tray and it worked like a charm. very easy to use, love this product!
