1000/1750 DPI Bluetooth 3.0 Optical Wireless Mouse, Red (C170B RED)

When purchasing a bluetooth mouse, or any bluetooth device, an important factor is how well it connects and how well it STAYS connected. After all this time, the industry still can’t make up its mind about how bluetooth works:- Microsoft with their mouse and Sony with their controller that pair without the need of a code (which Android’s bluetooth stack doesn’t support).- Mice and keyboards that will not reconnect after it wakes from sleep mode.- To this day, bluetooth devices still can’t wake a computer from suspend state.So when I get a simple bluetooth mouse for a good price, and it actually works as expected, I was happy.For my review, I’m comparing the Bornd mouse to the  Motorola 89519N Bluetooth Mouse  which I got in a set that included the  Motorola Wireless Keyboard for Motorola ATRIX and XOOM (Motorola Retail Packaging) .With the Motorola mouse, its frequency somehow conflicts with the Motorola keyboard, resulting in sticky keys, as in “I’m having a good daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay”. Conversely, the keyboard interferes with the mouse where the computer would actually lose connection with the mouse for a few seconds after typing, or lose connection completely.What I liked about the Bornd:- Pairing was simple using the button at the bottom of the mouse.- Operating distance is about 5 feet, but this may be because of my computer’s bluetooth antenna- Takes a single AA battery which lasts over a month of moderate use (2 hours per day)- Mouse movement is good. No need to adjust mouse speed in the control panel.- Accuracy is good. Editing images using Pixlr.com, I’m able to select precisely the parts of the image I need.What gave me trouble with the Bornd:- When you first put your hand on this mouse, you will not feel that it is very well built. The plastic is completely smooth and the mouse wheel seems to rattle when you shake it. I got used to it after a few minutes, though.- The mouse reconnects with the computer most of the time, but sometimes it was necessary to turn the mouse off and on again after the computer reboots or if the computer was out of range for an extended period of time.- Lately, I’ve been experiencing double-clicks when I click on the left mouse button once. I’m usually able to fix this by getting angry and slamming the mouse down a couple of times. This may indicate a build quality issue with this mouse.In my specific case, the Bournd did not interfere with my Motorola keyboard at all and it seems the sticky key occurs only when the batteries on the keyboard runs low.

Okay, let's get some things straight.- This is made in China. Not like other things, that are made by American companies selling cheap things. This has HIGH production quality, and I would have thought the packaging was designed by Apple (legitimately). Chinese companies are stepping up.- It's SLIGHTLY bigger than most compact mouses (mice?). Feels great under my hand, easy to turn off, and the battery has lasted through now (a month so far) without trouble.-The first CON I listed here is a very important one -- after two of these mice, they only seem to last 3-6 months of light use. The main mouse button starts to 'double click' on a single click, at random. The mouse becomes unusable. I will be getting a more well-known brand mouse, this time around.Pros:-Works great with my modern (2013) Asus Ultrabook (i5, SSD). It responds as quickly as a USB mouse.-Nice ergonomic design. Crisp button pushing.-Easy enough to pair (Windows 8.1 -- no issues). Forward, it basically connects whenever I just turn the mouse 'On', and pretty quickly.-Very precise, and responsive. Hold the middle (scroll) button and other buttons for like 5 seconds to switch from 1000 and 1750 DPI (there's no indication -- you just have to move the mouse around and see if it moves more quickly or slowly)-Comes with a good battery (surprisingly), and I have had to change the battery 0 times on either of the two of these that I've owned, which is about 3 months and 6 months respectively.Cons:-After two mice, the 3-6 month window seems to be the sweet spot for the primary mouse button to start malfunctioning. It makes every single click just start to 'double-click' or sometimes 'click and hold'. It comes and goes, but gets worse with time. I'm going to be getting a more reputable mouse, this time around.-On SLOWER machines, bluetooth 3.0 is not appropriate for mice. An ASUS Transformer T200 (Windows 8.1 tablet) can NOT USE THIS DEVICE. The lag between moving the mouse, and the movement of the cursor is SEVERE. Do NOT USE THIS MOUSE WITH A WINDOWS TABLET. You need a reasonable motherboard and bluetooth chip for it to work well. I had bought a second one for the tablet, and was disappointed about that. Perhaps Bluetooth 4.0 would work better. Who knows.-Once in a while, Bluetooth needs to be turned on, then off, on the computer, and then I turn the mouse off, then on. It's rare, but it happens.-Black costs more than Blue (as of my purchases). Why?!

I got this mouse to use with my ASUS T100TA Transformer, and it has been great. I like that it is a small, low cost BT Mouse that I don't need to clog up a USB port for. The only issue is that after a while, the left button will start to register single clicks as multiple clicks, making it impossible to use. I was able to figure out why and fix it my self since I could not figure out how to contact the Bornd to get them to replace it under warranty, and it was outside of my 30 day window with Amazon. What you have to do it take the mouse apart, and on the left side there is a micro switch. You will have to cut the tab on the left side of the switch and gently pry up the top case carefully, also paying attention to the little white piece on the inside than is the button. It is very small, so don't lose it. Once you have it opened, you will see a small silver spring tap with a J-Hook piece going down. This is the spring that registers the clicks. Take it out, paying attention to how it was installed for re-installation, and bend the J-Hook down some. It doesn't take much, just a mm or 2. I bent mine too far, and now the click is extremely smooth compared to the right click. Then reinstall the spring tab, and close the case back up, applying a very small amount of superglue, I used a toothpick and dipped it in and just touched the split-line of the case. Then reassemble the mouse and reconnected it to your computer. It should work as it is designed now. The spring tab is very weak, so I am sure this will have to be repeated in the future, that is why I only used a small amount of glue.
