Works fine
It is difficult to break into an even chunk, but it doesn't need to be pretty. Gets my dishes clean and I like the small no plastic packaging. I'll buy it again and experiment with breaking off pieces. I did see a video of a guy using nutcracker. It worked ok, I'll need a little practice. It dissolved completely, no gunk in my soap cup.

Messy and wasteful
I had ordered this before but it was quite awhile before I used it. I live in the tropics and thought the softness and crumbling was just because of the high humidity and salt air. I had to throw quite a bit of it out. I ordered again (trying to be ecologically friendly, plus I like their laundry detergent), and now see what everyone has said about using the individual tablets. I had to use a knife to separate them (and store in a separate container), and quite a few crumbled/broke in the process. This is way too much work and waste for me. Won't be ordering again.

Needs Work
I think the formula and packaging need a bit more work. The tabs are dry out of the package, which happens to all tabs from all brands if the packaging allows air to get in. Being dry enough that it takes muscle to break off a tab doesn’t bother me, but it’s a bit of bother to me when the dry outer layers of the tab flake off, which allows the inner, moister, layers of the detergent to stick to my sensitive skin. Even so I could ignore all that in favor of the ecology of this product if it did a good job cleaning the dishes, which it doesn't. Not only is grease and debris left behind, but it also leaves soap residue. It doesn’t matter what the temperature of the water is. Our dishwasher is less than two years old. It is extremely efficient in terms of water and power. It reuses the first gallon of water to soak food off whatever is in the dishwasher, heating it to near boiling, relying on a filter to capture food particles, where there’s also a small heating element that reheats the water before spraying it again. It soaks and sprays like this for an hour with the same gallon of water, so that dishes don’t need to be pre-rinsed or pre-washed. The dishwasher is pretty stingy about water in other phases of the wash cycles too. We have average water in terms of softness or hardness, so any detergent we use should function as designed. I think that this detergent formula isn’t designed for the way our dishwasher functions. It would likely have worked better on our old dishwasher which was water hungry, taking as much as ten gallons with each load of dishes. Unfortunately we won’t be purchasing this again for our newer dishwasher, and the detergent will have to be used to wash trash cans or some other job we think it might be put to use for.

Little soapy feeling, but they do the job!
Overall, I like these tablets. There is no plastic on these at all, and they came in a cardboard box. The tablets themselves are all connected, you have to break them apart to use them. This can be a little tricky, but there are score lines on them. They leave my hands a little soapy feeling (like, if you tried to break apart a bar of soap). Would not recommend messing with these with wet hands. (Minus 1 star)These do a good job of getting my dishes clean. I use just one tab in the wash compartment and nothing in the prewash compartment for a normal cycle. Dishes come out as clean as they did when I used a name brand powder dishwasher soap.I would recommend these if you are trying to avoid plastic. They take up less space than the big box of powder and don't leave residue in the soap compartment of the dishwasher like I have noticed with pods. Just make sure you have somewhere dry to store them and you are good to go!

Eco-Friendly Not what I had hoped for.
These are Eco-friendly, fragrance-free Dishwasher detergent tablets. They have a built in rinse-aid. In trying to be more Eco-friendly, I tried these as well as the laundry sheets. This review is for the dishwasher tablets only.I found that the tablets DO work for cleaning your dirty dishes...the night I first used these, I had 2 small bowls that are colored plastic--light pink and I had stores some leftover tamales in them....complete with red Mexican sauce. These had been stored in the fridge for several days so the coloring from the tamales was 'stuck' on the bottom of the bowl. Then, of course, I reheated them in the microwave...so when I took them out and we ate the tamales, the bottom of the bowl was really stained. I should have taken a picture of the bowls but at the time, I wasn't intending to use these tablets to wash them so I didn't think about it when I loaded the dishwasher. I did think about it the next morning just before I opened the dishwasher---'I should have taken a picture of these bowls before I ran the dishwasher'.....I opened the door, and took out both bowls and they were clean enough that if you didn't know....you would never have known there had been tamales and juice in them the day before. So.....the product does do what it says---all of the dishes (including the standup cheese shredder that I used) were all immaculately clean. What I didn't like--the tablets......if they had been already broke apart, they would be fine.....but these come as a long strip of tablets and you have to break them a part to use one in a load. If you try to break them by hand, they come apart in pieces because the indention where they snap apart is not very deep, so it doesn't break cleanly. In comes the table knife to help break them apart. They snap in pieces still.......boyfriend enters the picture with his amazing idea.......get out the hammer and hit the end of the knife and break them apart.... works very well and it did break them in to fairly clean pieces. You can tell who did what by looking at the pictures lol. It's just the 2 of us so the 30 tablets will probably last us 2-3 months. I usually wash dishes by hand but if we're busy or have a big dinner, I don't use the dishwasher daily. Not sure yet if I'll repurchase.

Imagine Clean Dishes and Saving Space under the Sink
Stop using products that come in big containers that are most likely bad for the environment.Honestly just the space you save between under your sink and then recycling (were in Ohio and recycling is spotty) would be worth it however your dishes get clean and its better on your dishwasher. My only call out is that if you're like me and have arthritis the tabs do not split easily.

Hard to break apart
Cleans my dishes well even on light cycle. Love that this is eco friendly, packaging has no plastic and made in Canada. My only pet peeve is the difficulty separating the tabs. The don’t just break off. I have to separate them with a small paring knife.

Dishes are just as dirty after washing
After using half a box, I thought it was my dishwasher. Food was still stuck to dishes, cutlery was dull. Glassware was streaked. Coffee cups were still dirty. They don't cut grease, food, dog slime or anything. I doubled and tripled the number of cubes. Still gross results. So I tried Nellie's dishwasher pods -- and I have clean dishes, clean coffee cups, and shiny cutlery. I try to use eco friendly products but I started running half loads. And I spent more time rewashing to test my machine. I'm tossing the rest -- or maybe I can use it as horticultural soap on plants. They don't clean so they probably won't hurt plants and may discourage bugs.

This product does not clean the dishes
Tru Earth Laundry strips are stellar - the dishwashing tabs are not. Come compacted in a bar - hard to break one serving size from the bar, dishes came out pretty much as dirty as they went in. Tried on 4 or 5 different loads - had to wash by hand - does not clean grease off. Threw out the rest - not useful at all.

Clean but not shiny
Dishes came clean BUT residue left on the dishes. This product requires a rinse aid
