The Settlers 7
One would think that when you get to seven releases of a game it would get better and better, in fact it has, except for this one. What a let down it is and it's all down to having to play this game online. On my PC, the game is all jerky, slow and is almost impossible to play, due to it keeping on connecting to their website to run. From all the hype pre launch and all the updates and bug fixes that Ubisoft have issued I hoped that all the poor comments would now be a thing of the past. Unfortunately not. Why they couldn't have stayed with the same game as the previous 6 I don't know. Roll on Settlers 8.One good thing about this game though is that when you register it at Ubisoft you are then allowed to play their free online games. Try the Settlers online - it's free and runs very smoothly. It's also what I think the developers were trying to do with Settlers 7. It's also very addictive, so be warned. It's excellent game play, interesting story line and enough fun and enjoyment to keep you glued to your PC for a weeks worth of fun.

Nostalgic game
I was really excited to learn that this updated version of a classic game existed. I fondly remember playing various versions of this on my Amiga Commodore, then my PC in the 90's. It is a simple concept but furiously addictive, and this new version keeps true to the roots of the game, but has updated the graphics and added new features and challenges without spoiling the game play. What I really like is the face it isn't overly complicated, like so many RPGs, so you can play this and really enjoy it, without it necessarily taking over your life. The additional benefit was that it was available for my Mac, which I feel restricts me a lot more- and have to buy games from the apple store. It is similar, I guess, to a lot of RPGs on mobile apps and games that people develop in the apple store- BUT it is the same price (actually cheaper than most similar games in the apple store- £5), much longer, and the game play is much better and well developed (it helps that it is made by a good software developer, with a long history of producing such games, and has had more money in it's development). And you can install it on multiple computers as it's on a disc, rather than being able to download it once from the apple store.Would definitely recommend this!

The game is boring!
I don't care about the requirement for a permanent internet connection, as most people nowadays have that so it doesn't matter! What does matter is that this game is SO different to most of the other settlers games. My favourite of the series is the settlers four, where the player has a lot of control over the production lines and economy of the settlement, down to exactly where a building is placed. Here, there is a place it can go, and a place it can't, no middle ground. There is also a lot less necessary for production. In S4, to make swords, for instance, you need coal and iron ingots, and iron ingots need coal and iron. In S7 you need iron. it's as simple and boring as that. If you're gonna get a settlers game, I recommend any of the games before S5. S5 and S7 are not good. S6 is an exception; it's not the same as the previous games, but it is still enjoyable!

Best Settlers Yet!
I have seen quite a few negative revews on this. However for those of you that can connect to the internet and have a fast enough computer, it is well worth getting. Beautiful scenery and endless hours spent building up your empire and going to war. I would reccommend this without a doubt!

have played most other settlers game & this one just gets too hard too quickly - the first couple of level are fine but then you just don;t seem to have enough time to complete all the tasks necessary to win
