EstwingMaul, 6 lb Head Wood Splitting, Maul with Fiberglass Handle, Model #62373, 36"

This maul is the right weight for control and splitting our campfire rounds of 12 inches or so in one stroke. This made splitting our wood so much easier.

I bought one, then my son wouldn’t share it. So I had to buy another. We have split 7 cords so far, only cosmetic wear so far. I feel like it should last a very long time!

Works great. I highly recommend it.

Now this tool is great. I made mince meat of a half a cord of oak in an hour. You don't need 8 lbs, this one is fine.

If you have the strength toswing it, it will do the job for which it was designed

Super splitting maul; heavy, well-made & sharp

Twas looking forword using an Estwing 6lb splitting maul and with first bolt of oak wood damaged the 'rubberized' cover mold near the shoulder where one would expect wear after hours of use - I did not miss the strike or falter the swings -axe went almost through the log which is good right?- rubberized mold on handle seemed to puncture and pry away - terrible design flaw by Estwing, why not have a damage resistant material at the shoulder to protect the fiberglass handle similar to a Husqvarna or Fiskars splitting axe? -also grind is slightly off center -otherwise the remainder of the axe is satisfactory and probably will do something to protect the area with a DIY wrapA company that has made tools for over 100 years did not convey its expertise with the handle cover or possibly designed by a non-user of tools - maybe it was India's idea
