Very powerful juicer and fun to use too!
I'd seen a lot of bad reviews of previous models (mainly due to motors burning out), even on the Philips website, so I was aware of taking a bit of a gamble with buying this. But there are lots of positive reviews for this new model, which came out earlier this year I believe, so I decided it was worth the risk - especially at a recent Daily Deals offer price. And, so far, I'm very pleased with it.I've tried apples, pears, carrots, celery, cucumber, tomatoes and oranges so far (not all at the same time...) and all disappear in a trice, with no problems whatsoever. I do halve the apples and pears, and cut the carrots, celery and cucumbers into chunks just to make it a bit easier, but it looks as if it would take whole apples at one gulp. The juice is lovely, far better than shop-bought juice (even the purer not-from-concentrate type), but you do have to juice a lot of fruit or veg to get a litre of liquid, say. I reckon I used about 8 fairly large oranges to get about a litre of juice, so don't expect to save money unless you have an orange tree in your back garden... Cucumbers, as you'd expect, generate the largest amount of juice, but celery has a really surprising amount of juice in it. Carrots probably have the least juice to extract - reckon on juicing a couple of kilos to get just one litre of juice (but save the pulp and make a carrot cake afterwards!). And do pop small knobs of root ginger (peeled) into the juicer with the fruit or veg as this jazzes up the flavour very nicely - it goes best with apples, pears and carrots, I think, but don't let me stop you from experimenting!Apart from generating lovely juice for you to drink, this machine is so much fun to use - blitzing fruit and veg is almost addictive! I reckon it's a good stress-buster too - after a hard day's work, just imagine that the fruit or veg that you're blitzing has the faces of people who have annoyed/upset you during the day - wonderfully therapeutic ;-) It's also really well-designed and everything fits easily together - no need to look at those silly pictograms that Philips supply, just use your common-sense and you'll find it's a doddle. It's easy to take apart and clean - I did try the automated rinse after juicing but it didn't really seem to make a lot of difference as you still have to rinse the components under a tap; as others have said, don't believe the "one-minute clean" claim from Philips, but it really doesn't take long to give everything a quick rinse - just be careful when you're cleaning the metal filter as the shredder in the centre is extremely sharp (I use a synthetic sponge to wipe the gauze clean on the inside and outside, and this works well). As far as noise is concerned, I didn't find it a problem - yes, it might wake up someone if you operate this in the early morning, but it is far quieter than my Nespresso machine, for example. The juicing process seems to be very efficient as the remaining pulp is quite dry. You do get quite a bit of froth on the top of some juices, though, and it can be a little fiddly to stop this mixing with the clear juice - the baffle at the top of the jug helps, but is not 100% effective. But if you like cloudy juice then just mix all the froth in as well - it's your choice! I've seen some comparisons between different types of juicers, and the cold-press juicers are claimed to produce the best juice that keeps the longest (as no heat is imparted in the extraction process), but I haven't had a problem with this Philips juicer warming up the juice at all - it just seems to come out at room temperature. These are the key things that I think are worth considering :-1. You need a lot of fruit or veg to generate a reasonable amount of juice, so bear this in mind if you're looking to save money i.e. can you source cheap (or free) fruit and veg? I have a couple of apple trees in my garden and always have too much fruit, so I now know what to do with some of it at least - and maybe cider making is becoming a viable option ;-)2. Don't throw the pulp away before seeing whether you can use it as a cooking ingredient - do a web search for "uses for juicer pulp" to get some ideas. I've frozen orange, apple and carrot pulp so far - just need to decide which of the many uses to try!3. Have you got room for a juicer? Most are fairly large - this model is about the size of my Panasonic breadmaker, for example, so you may need to store the unit at the back of a work surface and bring it to the front (if you have overhanging cupboards) when you need to use it. It's not that heavy, so is easy to move around - the suckers on the base help with stability, too.All in all, this has been a very pleasing purchase and is thoroughly recommended!

Efficient juicer
This definitely leaves the pulp drier than the previous model, they have also fixed the design fault where the grater section was so hard to lift out. The new model has the grater inverted so you simply lift it off. There is still quite a bit of cleaning to do, you have to be prepared for that to produce your own fresh juice, although again easier than the previous model it still requires a bit of effort. So far I have been putting it in the dishwasher most days and it has been fine. It takes quite a lot of space on the worktop, slightly bulkier than the old model, particularly if you leave the jug with it. The jug fits nicely round the spout opening and the choice of nozzles is a good idea. On the whole I am pleased with this juicer, much the best model I have had and I have had juicers for about 7 or 8 years now. The only thing I find annoying on this model is the plunger, for some reason it has a removable edge to it that twists off in your hand. If they could make the plunger one piece it would be an improvement in my view, but this is a small niggle overall.

Excellent juicer for beginners and no nonsense juicers
Excellent juicer for beginners and no nonsense juicers. Those with raw vegan and juicing OCD this may nkt cut it as pulp is still quite wet. It manages almost all fruits and all veg.Regarding its durability, its a very sturdy looking juicer but i only used it now 3 times a day, 5 days running so am not sure how it will hold up on extensive use so may come back to update. It doesnt appear like it will let me down anytime soon. Also, some people commented on the size. It is a large machine but due to its design and its brushed chrome it looks very sleek and stylish but also obsecure. My husband who hates clutter did not even notice it sitting on my kitchen worktop corner. So although big its not HUGE, and due to design not an eye sore. The juice yield of this machine is second to none. I cannot compare it to more dearer machines like the breville juice fountain plus, that costs 3-4 times more or hestons version, but again if your not a juice junky and OTT about it all this juicer yields a decent amount of juice from only a handful of ingredients. Just a few ingredients like 1-2 apples 2-3 sticks of cellery, handful of spinach or kale or both 1-2 kiwi fruits, 1/4 cucumber yield just over 500ml of juice.Juice is fine and watery which also means this is purely for juicing and has a lack of fibre. Its vital to compensate and avoid cramping if your suffering IBS by eating fibre rich fruits and veg without juicing or using a blender or mastication appliance like nutri bullet.Cleaning is easy but not THAT easy for 2 reasons, 1. The filter sieve does get clogged up esp the top part and something always gets stuck at the centre if the blade and does require to be brushed quite thoroughly after each use.2. Way too many parts to clean which initially wasnt a problem as i was still admiring its capabilities, but after a week it has become a bit of a chore each time. There are a total 5 nits to rince and clean. Ideally i just want to juice, lift rince and thats what i would call easy cleaning. But this is more like juice and then rince plunger, top shoot, cutting blade sieve, spout ring, pulp tray and then the jug and jug lid itself.Overall this is an EXCELLENT JUICER.whether anyone who is starting this whole juicing raw vegan masticating diet thing or is doing it temporarily, this will be a great starter kit or applience that you cannot go wrong with!!!xxx

WARNING !
Very good juicer, high quality, strong and easy to clean. However there is one huge problem. Spare parts. The filter sieve is a crucial and fragile part. And this part is impossible to buy. I`ve been trying now in a few months to find one. No. That is VERY bad. If the filter is damaged you can put your wonderful juicer in the bin. VERY BAD.
