Cokin164 CIRCULAR POLARIZER P-Series Filter

Its a chunky well made glass filter / Rich Colours
It enriches colour - may seem obivous- but compared to a screw on lens Polriser it seems better ?The sort of filter I would take as part of a pack & sit ; bracket and play with- the screw on is everyday & an aid - which is on lens anyway -

Good quality But
Very pleased with the filter and it's optical quality. Was very supprised with Cokins idea of packing. Filter was wrapped in a lens cloth inside a thin card sleeve. Filter could have been easily damaged had it not been for some good Amazon packing.

Great quality but not perfect.
If you are even slightly interested in any form of photography but especially landscape you are going to want to get a polariser. This filter removes haze and reflections very effectively which can really improve contrast in the sky and the foreground. It also darkens the sky so that it isn't over exposed. It is a good filter with very little colour cast and feels very solidly built, however, and I know this is a complaint that should really be leveled at the P series holder but because the only slot that the polariser can go in is the nearest to the lens which is fine except it means you can't use it with a very dark filter as there is no room for the foam disk to prevent light leakage. Now admittedly this is a very niche problem but annoying none the less. The other problem is that when in the holder, the filter is very hard to turn. Overall this is a great product that can vastly improve your photography that is significantly cheaper than the competition so I can recommend it.

Initial Problems with cokin P164 Circular Polarizer filter
Recently I have gone over to use the Cokin P system as I now am building up a collections of lenses, all with different diameters. Works perfectly with the square glass, so I decided to buy this Circular Polarizer . It arrived next day and I eagerly wanted to try it.How does it fit ? It wasn't intuitively obvious to me, it just seemed to want to drop out ! I phoned Amazon who advised me to phone Cokin. ( Who don't work weekends or lunch times !) Eventually I have made contact ( they didn't answer the messages I left on their system ). The instructions worked, the filter is fitted, the knurled edge is wearing my fingers away, but it all seems OK.Oh no another problem, how do I remove the filter from the holder ?

Does the job
It's a solid bit of kit , pops in to the holder ( p size ) quite nicely , a bit fiddley to adjust but it give good results.

For wide angle lenses you would be better off with a screw on filter dedicated to that ...
The polarizing filter work very well the only criticism is on wide angle lenses due to the holder the edges of the filter come into view in the corner of the pictures. For wide angle lenses you would be better off with a screw on filter dedicated to that lense.
