Zinsser Gardz High Performance Sealer Water-Base 2.5 Litre

Great stuff! Needed to use a sealer after removing wallpaper and wanted to paint walls. Really easy to use, covered really well. No smell. Quite watery, so I needed to be careful with application.I also used on eggshell paint, as I wanted to repaint, so a great versatile product. The can covered a large area, so great value for money. Paint adhered nicely over without any peeling issues.

We’ve always had trouble with the wall going up our stairs. Every time we paint or the weather turns cold, little air bubbles appear. We had dado rails and decided to pull them off BUT it took about 4/5 layers of paint with it so we then had no choice but to scrape and peel every single bit of paint off! We saw this as a blessing in disguise though as we’ve always wanted to go back to bare plaster to sort out the problem. We sanded and cleaned every area, after one coat, it was still doing it!! But this time the paint was scratching off by our finger nails too. So we had to re sand what we’d already done!! Nightmare! After researching, we came across ZINSSER GARDZ, we figured maybe there’s old wall paper paste on the walls as it’s an old house. Zinsser Gardz looks like watery milk but smells of rabbit wee! So I recommend opening windows and wearing a face mask. Also, don’t use a brush! It flys everywhere! Use a small foam roller. It dries like a glue and your wall will be shiny. After one coat of our desired paint we had no paint scratching off and no bubbling! After a few coats, it was perfect! We’ve finally got our walls back! It’s taken about a month of back and forthing and lots of tears but we got there in the end! Yay!

Bought this product as a last resort. Stupidly i had sanded an artex ceiling and couldn't get any paint products to stick to the surface without peeling, bubbling or simply falling off. This product was recommended for all porous surfaces, especially damaged plaster, plasterboard or chalky surfaces. The sealer is very thin and watery to apply, so expect drips and a bit of mess. I opted to apply by a 2 inch brush instead of roller. It still runs off the brush and up your arm if you overload the brush! After 2 coats it had dried to a rock hard covering which i have been able to pain over. Pleased with the result. Expensive product but cheaper than employing a plasterer. Zinnser primers are the best products on the market at present in my opinion.

Dries clear (which was what I wanted). Purchased to cover a large wall that had significant areas of absorption which ruined the matt emulsion finish. This sealant has, for the most part, improved the finish but small areas still show through hence it is not a one-coat solution. Still, reasonably satisfied with the product.

Does the job. Using 2.5l tub I was able to coat one small bedroom (including ceiling) with a single coat.

Look absolutely no further if you are doing a plasterboard and tape joint job. For dry lining this product is awesome. In fact after using similar products for the last 20+ Years I would say this is the best. It goes on with a brush or roller, sinks in and dries out quickly with a superb hard finish, useful on those external corners!Overall I give this 5 stars. I'll be buying it again. Delivered on time.Gardz is simple to apply. I'm going to have to trust it works as it'll take months to know if it does.
