PyroVault 2.0 Lighter Armor Compatible with Zippo Inserts, for Protection, Less Evaporation, and Retention, Made in The USA (Desert Hunter (FDE + Rescue Orange))

I bought this expecting something rock-solid, like a Pelican case for a Zippo lighter insert, but instead, this so called "Hard-shell case" is nowhere as solid and is made with some loose tolerances.The design is really cool, but the build quality is mediocre. While it's supposed to be sealed to reduce evaporation, it has a noticeably large gab between the cap and the body of the case, with or without an insert. The case has a surprising amount of flex, and the colored plastic insert fits loosely in the outer plastic "EXOSKELETON" of the case.At an MSRP of $35 USD for just the case, I was certainly expecting better quality. In fact, I paid close to $40 USD delivered!

Definitely a cool and rugged case for your zippo inserts but failed a submersion test for me. Put some paper towel pieces inside and closed the latch, submerged for about 10 minutes and it had water intrusion after I pulled it out. Looking at mine and at the pictures here it looks like the top doesn’t sit down flush all the way around or clamp down tightly enough to seal it properly. For the money they definitely could have done a better job making this case truly watertight. Kind of disappointed with this one compared to other Thyrm products I own. Will still use it as a case but will have to avoid getting it super wet in the future.

Loved it

Plastic is an interesting choice for a replacement of a steel or brass lighter casing, and it certainly will melt if you are not careful during use. As an emergency tool or just something to get a fire started quickly it works great and conserves fuel much longer than a standard flip lighter case.

I love this for my classic Zippo insert!! It holds fuel extremely nicely!! I would highly recommend this product!! My only complaint is that the gasket keeps coming out when I take my insert out and I have to spend several minutes putting it back in just right.

Overpriced, but a great case.
