Everlast Speed Bag 10X7 (4242)

The bad reviews say something like this, "Popped within a month. Not high quality, invest in a better bag the first time, or buy a replacement in less than 3 months when it pops."That's actually what i said when i first gave it a 1 star review myself for poppin in a month lol but i ordered another just to see if the next will pop. Because it was a good bag while it lasted. And compared to others on amazon for price, it's a good bag. And then you'll know how much air to put it in it next time, and make it last longer.Everyone will say how much air to put in. And i read how much everyone said, but i still wasnt sure how much exactly. But the best way to know is starting out with this quality bag, and learning yourself by using it, how much air works and doesn't work. Looking back, i definitely over pumped the bag at times. And combined with hard hits and rebounds, the bladder couldnt take it.Now, I'm no professional, not even a boxer, so i dont know what the true difference is in a higher quality bag, but i do know this bag works, and is a great teaching tool for a beginner to advance into the higher quality bags, and have a better appreciation for it. Plus im broke LOLBut honestly, all the 5 star reviews are correct.

I have 6 speed bags, 2 of which are Everlast 7x10 and 6x9. If I could only keep 2,these are the ones. They have much more bounce ability, which means you can hit them softly and maintain a rythum or you can hit them hard to gain as much speed as you can handle and break a good sweat if that is your goal.Everlast suggests 4 lbs.,5 lbs. works well,no more,bag becomes to hard at 6 lbs.especially if your not wearing hand protection. All my other bags,all much more expensive,require a much harder hit to keep them going nicely,therefore breaking a sweat much more rapidly. Fine,just a faster way to get tired. All in all,these Everlast bags 4242 and 4241 are very versatile,you can hit them awhile,enjoy the rythum and the fact that you can keep them going,without sweating,or you can be more aggressive,speeding them up and making a real workout out of it. These bags can go faster then you can if that's what you want. One more thing. Make sure your platform has no vibration or movement in it,make it absolutely solid,any movement will greatly deminish the performance of any bag you hang there,no matter who makes it.Don't let adding air once in a while be an issue for you,no bag is free from that,not a big deal. Enjoy the rythum,enjoy the workout,enjoy the fun and satisfaction. 5 stars. One more thing,the 4242 doesn't lose hardly any air,but some of my other bags lose a little more,so I was thinking,there's only about 5lbs.of air in them,not much pressure and only one way for the air to escape,that is the hole where you put it in.Hummm,I took a piece of quality electrical tape and put it over the hole,gotta help,so far so good.one way in,no way out. Hah.OBB.

This a great beginner bag for the price. The only problem I've had in 5 months is yes it does loose air but 2 or 3 pumps and it back to where you want it. So many people make such a big deal about that. The leather is showing a lil wear (mostly cosmetic) but like I said its a beginner bag I'll be purchasing a new bag soon (medium) and even that ill will replace in a few months with a higher quality and faster bag when the time comes. Gave it 4 stars since yes it does require pumping it up once a week and the leather is already showing wear but other than that no complaints. So if you never used a speed bag before this buy is good to start off with. So don't listen to the amateur or wanna be pros they should be buying more expensive bags to begin with and stop being cheap.

The leather is better, softer quality than the original bag that came with the speed bag mount. It seems to hold it's air better. Although, since it's black it much more difficult to see, so you really have to rely on the rhythm of the bag.

Since it's a smaller speed bag than the one I replaced it is more challenging, which I happen to like.I have an air pressure gauge for low limits and I check it quite often and it has to be pumped up every couple of days.This is not a major problem but I am concerned that the intake valve may wear out too quickly.

As an amateur fighter, I can only have the best products that will hold up to my extensive workouts. Having a speed bag at home is perfect for at home workouts as a new mom. This is a quality bag!

The shackle strap broke after moderate use. I didn't bang it or mis-use it. I repaired the strap on my own because I knew I could do it much faster than waiting for a replacement. After I repaired it and continued to use it, the other side of the strap broke. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to just replace the strap wth nylon webbing that I know will hold up better or send it back.The action is fine though when using it. The bladder did lose air after about 3 weeks of no use. Easy to re-inflate.

I like it for the quality you get at a good price. Works best for beginners like me.

Previous bag lasted one year at the boxing club. Very respectable considering the hard constant usage. It’s not the bag that breaks but the leather loop that mounts to the hardware. Common breakage on previous competitors models as well. Great for home or light usage I think it would last for years.
