Bed
Was a good buy, instructions need a little work but if you have a little patience you will do it just fine. Good for the price but be aware it arrives in 2 packs on different days.

Not the easiest to put together, but nice bed when you get there!
Other reviews mentioned that the instructions were wrong so I was wary, but stupidly didn't use my common sense at one point. I think I should have worked it out if I had thought about it properly. The instructions for the hinge arm are back to front! Which meant that when it closed, it overlapped one edge and didn't fit into the base so we had to take half of it apart and start again, which was a pain! And two of the slat supports broke slightly, but nothing major. Otherwise it was clear, although instructions could do with a few more written instructions. Once it was together we were very happy with it. Good for storage, and son says it is comfortable and just what he wanted.

Bed started quacking noise when using it
Hi I would say the product is good unless it would not make quacking noises from the headboard. We assembled and after one week the bed started making noises when turning sides. My son is quite disturbed and now complaining of waking up in the night when he turns. We tried everything tighten the nuts and also oiling the joints where the noise is coming from. So I am disappointed with the purchase as we cant keep the bed in this position. If someone can help us in regards to this that would be helpful. If I had a chance I would return.

Ottoman base
Took a while to put it together and another pair of hands was a help. Once together it was surprisingly good. Bought as a spare for visitors but had a couple of nights in it ourselves when decorating. Storage underneath is easily accessible and a great benefit. All in all, for the price, very happy.

Cheaply made
First the good point. The way this was packaged was very clever. Much of the smaller pieces were stored inside the back of the headboard to reduce the volume of space needed to package this bed.Unfortunately, that’s where the compliments end. The written instructions were truly awful, especially when you get to the most important section about which side you want the ottoman storage to open from. Not only were the description of which way is which confusing, they were also wrong. The illustration shown the opposite way to what I wanted, so I did the opposite, which turned out to be wrong! Also the number of screw holes illustrated was different to the actual number on the bed.Generally, the quality of the materials used throughout was not good. The box section steel was soft and did not have any strengthening tubes inside the bolt holes, so you had to be careful not to compress the steel as you tightened the bolts. The supplied tools were useless. The spanner bent whilst try to tighten the first of only two nuts that it needed to be used on and one of the Allen keys rounded off before I was half way through assembly.Just so you know it isn’t me that is useless. I have several years experience of self assembly furniture and I can read plans. I used to be in the building trade, working at the luxury end of the market. Can I recommend this bed? Now it is assembled and has been in use for a few weeks, it seems to be okay, but I wouldn’t buy it again. If you can afford one that is already assembled, buy that rather than this.

Frees up a lot of space, pistons are a bit stiff, very good value for money compared to others
When delivered, it doesn't look like it's all there, just two packages. Open it all up an you will find that a lot of the parts are zipped in the headboard. It's sturdier than you expect from a wooden frame, mainly due to the bits of metal screwed into it which interlock and the screws into the metal frame in the headboard. As long as you take your time and read the instructions, it will be easy. Saying that, I stumbled on a couple of steps and had a couple parts left at the end... there are two bars which you need when connecting the gas pistons to the bed frame .... if you find that you the part that the mattress will eventually sit on seems to be a bit too short and you really need to work at getting the two gas pistons to connect to that bed support, I suggest you check that you have used the metal support between the piston and the frame of the bed... if you have used it, the top of the bed frame will fit easily. It can be built by one person with the occasional hand from someone else ... I had a 6 year old helping me and we put it together with no problems .... although we did take more than 1.5 hours as we were treating it as a holiday activity and life lesson in DIY.You really have to press down hard on the bed to get the "lid" to close, it almost feels like its going to break... you can unconnect one of the pistons which halves the pressure needed, and open and close it a few times to loosen it up a bit and then do the same for the other side... after a few weeks, it has loosened up a bit and is now just stiff rather than glued stuck and much more usuable. As a bed, it's lower than my old frame by 3 inches so I'm sitting lower than I'm used to... it also reduces the storage but this is all subjective and dependant on what your current bed is like. It does hold a fair amount of stuff inside and has freed up a lot of space in my room.I don't think a child would be able to open and close this easily but as an adult I think that this is a very good buy. I cannot comment as to the longevity of the bed because I've only had it a few weeks but it feels fairly solid.

Reasonable for the money.
Well 6 months on its still OK, and that's having had adults using it as well as kids. However, it came with x2 left hand side panels...which meant it couldn't be assembled properly! They were unable to send out the correct parts individually, and would have to exchange the bed...which given that it was nearly built would have been a right pain.Decided to make do with what I had, and was given a partial refund.Means some corner brackets are now missing and it doesn't sit totally square, but you can't tell, and as I say its still standing so it'll do.

Easy assemble
Tip: put the black material on the base before putting the metal frame or pistons on the bed
