Our town planted saplings along the sidewalk. Such pretty little dogwoods, maybe 6 feet tall with tender bark. Wouldn't you know that the neighbor's lawn service used the string trimmer around the base? I couldn't believe it either. They gashed the bark around the bottom and took off a strip. Fortunately, they didn't gird the tree or not amount of protection would help. I ordered these and early in the morning while I was walking the dog, I wrapped this around the little tree to protect it. Just in time, too! The lawn service came that very afternoon, and I'm sure they'd have gone after that poor little tree again!

Much stronger than anticipated.I bought theses to protect 2 small magnolias. Both have branches or v's near the base causing the wrap to be tight or less flexible. I believe I will need to adjust the fit periodically to prevent damage to the bark. On a straight trunk I doubt this issue would be present be present.

The quality on these is OK, but one of them was really tight and the other one was looser because they were packaged one inside the other. The outside one fit my young tree fine the one that was packaged inside of the other one is quite tight. I hope it loosens up.
