I picked up this multimeter for a little project I am doing that needed a bit more precision than my cheap dollar store multimeter (which surprisingly worked well for what it was). I decided I wanted something that didn’t require me turning dials and determining which associated metric was needed to be read so this device was perfect because it offered automatic detection. I decided to test it in a couple ways. I tried the auto sensor to test if current was running through various outlets, switches, and sockets. It picked up current on most of my switches, but this was over the plate so it is understandable if it didn’t detect anything. For power outlets it picked up current on all but one, which it detected a little bit but that outlet also had the protectors in it. And for the sockets it picked it up right away. I also held it to the lights and if I flipped the switch it would detect when it was off or on. I tested the multimeter on various batteries and it picked up the correct value right away. I also used this on a device I made that contained 5k potentiometers . It automatically went in ohm mode and accurately measured the pots, even identifying that while some were in the margin of error were not exactly 5k. Overall this device was perfect. It was easy to operate and read. It even had a backlit screen. It is small and comes with a nice case that holds its cables. It even had a little cover that slips over so that it is kept safe from bumps. Perhaps it provides for insulation just in case. The manual is nice too and comes in various languages. For 10 bucks this is worth it.

I would not buy this as a general purpose meter but my main interest was reading voltages around 3.5 and 28. To keep it on the voltage funcion, I added a 2meg resistor in series with a 8 volt battery across the input terminals. Why do I have to buy it to see the specs? Voltage FS 4,40,400,600, DC accuracy 1%+5, AC 1.2%+5 Resistance 4K thru 40M 1.2%+5 auto turn off of 15 minutes can be disabled conversion rate 3/second Internal resistance on 4V scale 318K (my measurement, unusually low) My meter mid scale DCV reads .30% high. This is fortunate because it reads accurately when I add 1K resistor in series. Resistance reads .22% low Battery drain 1.06 ma (my measurement)

Just like the title says, this is a great value for your money. if you need a simple to use, I mean very simple to use inexpensive multimeter, this is the one. It's virtually foolproof to use! Anybody who has never even used a multimeter can start using this one from the get-go. All the functions are automatic, AC/DC voltage, resistance and continuity. I've used it to check voltages around the house and it's performed flawlessly. I haven't yet checked resistance as I'm not a power user to have resistors laying around. It also has a feature to check electric plugs/wires to see if they are live wirelessly, it has a backlit display and a very small LED flashlight. To be honest the flashlight is super dim, but hey! It's better than nothing I suppose. It also has nice build quality and like I said, it's a very good basic foolproof household multimeter. It was very nice also that it came with genuine copper top brand name batteries, a carrying case and a very well-written instruction book that was very detailed and concise in explaining its use. Amazing how fast technology advances as a multimeter like this would have been over $150.00 years ago and so far, I'm very happy with it. And for the price you really can't beat it. And say goodbye to those old-fashioned dial multimeters that were honestly such a pain to use. I highly recommend this Tesmen TM-510.

I bought one of these meters with a coupon for $11. I wasn’t expecting much at that price but have been very pleasantly surprised, this meter is great for the homeowner/amateur, that knows the basics of electricity and is all you’d need to troubleshoot any residential electrical circuits. The auto switching function works well and the backlight is very bright and useful when working with the power shut off. The display is large and the interface is simple and easy to understand. The flashlight is very dim but serviceable and is a feature that you don’t see on much more expensive professional meters from fluke and the like. The only thing that could make this meter any better would be a way to add a magnet to the back of the meter for when you need both hands on the leads. I was very surprised by how well the NCV or Non-contact voltage detector worked on this meter, this would be invaluable for the home DIYer as extra insurance you’re not about to drill into a hot wire behind the drywall you’re going blindly into. This is not a meter I would trust for anything over 120 volts but for someone just working on low voltage electronics, cars and residential circuits this meter is perfect and every homeowner should have one. I’ve since bought another one of these at $16 and I think that is still a very fair price for all the features this meter offers. I am an industrial electrician and I keep one of these in my drawer at home and prefer it over my fluke for simple home work if that says anything.

This is a great multi meter for a beginner electrician and especially homeowner. I’m a master electrician and I keep this in my vehicle so I always have one when I need it. For anyone that doesn’t have an electrical background you don’t have to worry about what setting you need to put the meter on this is your go to tool. The NCV (non contact voltage) feature is great you turn the meter on press the NCV button and then hold it against a wire and if the circuit is energized the meter flashes and beeps letting you know that the wire is live. The right hand button turns on a flashlight on the rear of the meter which helps if your checking a power outage. Always be careful when working with electricity and if you’re not sure about something contact an electrician because some electrical lines are not forgiving. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

Overall it's nice, but there's a few things which I wasn't super overjoyed about. SPOILER ALERT - I ultimately returned it. First off, the smell... the case which it comes with has a terrible plastic off gas smell. The smell was so bad it permeated the outside rubber shell and also the printed user manual. I left everything outside in the sun for a day and that mostly went away (so that's good). The size is nice.. it's very small and very convenient for quick jobs. It does require a small screw driver to install the AAA batteries (which were included); I think I would rather have had a battery compartment with some sort of slide on and off cover (or maybe a tab of some kind) as opposed to a screw (just so it would be quick and easy to remove the batteries when not in use). It's not a deal breaker, but not a huge fan of leaving batteries in all the time. Overall, construction seems very good quality and the LCD display is nice once you get used to it. The backlight is very nice as well, but not readable at any crazy angle. The biggest issue is that you are forever locked into "AUTO MODE". My god... So yeah, unfortunately, there's no way to manually select a specific mode and in some situations the unit doesn't know what you want to accomplish. For basic checks - most of the time - the auto mode is fine, but there are situations where this could be an issue. Case in point: say you want to use this meter to check your engine's cooling system for conducting electricity through the coolant; there is no way to accomplish that. If you ground the test probe and insert the other lead into the engine coolant, the meter thinks you wanna know the resistance of the solution... umm, okay. But I don't.. what I want to know is whether or not the solution is conducting any low voltage levels of electricity. There's no way to tell the meter to measure voltage instead of resistance in a scenario like that. So that's a big design flaw in my opinion and it would have been relatively simple to provide some means to just force the meter into each mode manually. For most casual use (or for kids just fooling around), the always in auto mode works fine; however, not 100% of the time. If you just wanna know the voltage on your 18650 battery or see if a household outlet is operational, this meter would be totally fine. But for some jobs, this whole "you are forced to forever use auto mode" is gonna be an issue. Another subtle thing I noticed is the socket and design of the text leads is rather cheap. In fact, if you put the leads into the unit and go to turn them too far, you can risk destroying the metal lining inside the socket (if not the probes themselves). I guess you can't ask too much for under $15, but definitely on the cheap side and you definitely shouldn't go turning the probes too much in the unit once they are inserted. Speaking of the test leads, I noticed out of the box they seemed slow to register continuity.. this might be a function of the only working constantly in auto mode, but I did notice that when I filed off the coating on the very tip of the probes (and made them a bit sharper), I started getting a slightly more rapid audible indication of continuity. Who knows... The printed manual included is nice, but it's sort of a phone book with every possible language. It's very nicely printed to be sure. The box is very nice.. the entire presentation is very high quality. For anyone wanting their first little meter, this would be an awesome gift. For kids, slam dunk. All in all - especially give the cost - this is a nice little meter. However, for roughly the same low price (if you shop around a bit more), you can find basically the same style inexpensive meter which does offer you the ability to manually select modes. As mentioned above, as much as I loved this little meter, I ultimately ended up returning it because of this whole auto only mode. If you can live with always having to use the auto mode, then for most casual stuff I could definitely recommend this meter. Again, shop around a bit and you can find similar meters which do allow you to select the manual mode, however.

I've had loads of multimeters over 30 years. Honestly, this is a little cracker. Not only is it well designed and simple to use, it is actually beautifully put together. The whole thing is a pleasure to use and it's insanely cheap too! Backlight is good. Rear torch, whilst not going to spot any high altitude Zepellins, is good enough for those times you're squinting into a space and wish you had a torch. Dimmer than a modern phone torch but useful and gratefully received. Hold function is useful too. You can take a reading which will stay on screen for a couple of seconds, but pressing the hold function stops it going off. Well thought it and useful. All auto sensing and audio ranging has worked fine for me. Professional electronic engineers might like more control but 90% of typical Amazon buyers will love this. NCV voltage detection was a surprise bonus. Thisv is simple and works fine - and is useful if you want to quickly check whether there's power to a socket or switch without dismantling it. Compact, good quality,v intelligently designed, good price. If you're not using it long term just pop the batteries out to avoid potential battery corrosion issues and it should last you years. It arrived with two genuine Duracell AAAs, which was a surprise.

The TESMEN TM-510 Multimeter arrived 2 days early which was great. It came with 2 duracell AAA batteries which was great also(not the cheap batteries). Put the batteries in and it worked right away. Started in Auto mode and I was able to test my fuses with ease. This is the perfect multimeter for the handyman. No guess work settings. I should have bought it sooner. A great product and I highly recommend it.
