Bought as a main present for Christmas morning. Assembled, power on, light came on on controller and went back off as quick. Contacted Amazon and Hornby. Disappointed with their handling of this. A child was expecting a train set for Christmas and got a broken one. No replacement offered. Amazon wanted me to keep the broken train set with a partial refund. Hornby said usually they would send a new controller FOC but because I'm dealing with Amazon they didn't proceed with that. In the end I'm awaiting a refund and have a broken train set and a disappointed child for Christmas. This is where online shopping falls short. Important purchases for occasions will be bricks and mortar walk in stores in future. Both Amazon and Hornby let me down with this one, badly!

Fantastic set! The locomotive runs smoothly and quickly. It comes with two unpainted figures, a coal man and the train driver. It feels like a really good value set because you get a decent amount of track too. Also the oval of track is the ideal size to circumnavigate a large Christmas tree so at Christmas it will be nice to see it travelling around the presents.
