Every Aquarium keeper should have one, should your power fail to your air pumps!
This device does the job! Makes a very load siren noise immediately if mains power is cut (make sure you a install a tested and working 9v PP3 battery)This is used to let us know if mains power to our fish tank pumps fails or is disrupted to enure we take adequate measures in a timely manner. We have lost several expensive fish due to overnight power failures that we were unaware of before. This should prevent this scenario happening again. It has a manual switch on the side to allow you to switch it off or silence the siren if activated. To test simply turn of mains power at the mains socket alarm very loud siren should sound. We are in the UK so replaced the two pin plug with a UK 3 pin variant. Delivery took a while, several weeks in fact, assume it comes direct from China?

It works, it is VERY loud
We have an outside shd set up for a pet which needs heat. If the power fails in winter that is a problem. This alarm works, bought this before Christmas and this week at 5.30am with freezing temperatures the entire village had a power cut. The alarm, in our bedroom was loud enough to wake the dead. Pretty soon afterwards all the burgler alarms in the village went off. VERY loud but then it is supposed to be. Whats the point of a quiet alarm

Just what we needed for our freezer
Had to change the USA plug to a UK 13amp plug but, once plugged in, this device gives off a VERY loud alarm when the mains power goes off. There is absolutely no chance of us missing the alarm signal, no matter where we are in the house. Not sure how long the PP3 (9v) battery will last on standby, but will check it every 2-3 months to be on the safe side.Very pleased with this purchase.

Works well, not sure why the American plug.
This alarm took a while to come, shame the supplier does not keep stock in the UK. I agree with other reviewers, the alarm is quite loud which is not a bad thing. I am a bit confused with the American pin plug. The USA used 115volts and we use 240 volts, so I assume this works in both modes, but can't see how without having a voltage selection switch. Hope it does not burst into flames or blow up if it is designed for 115 v but used in the UK at 240v. Time will tell.

Fit a battery plug it in then forget.
Came down one morning to find the fuse feeding the freezer had tripped. (For whatever reason) nothing was spoiled but didn’t half cause some panic! Argh!I hole this alarm will warn me if it happens again. It’s loud too!Excellent value. Highly recommended.

does the job well
i like it--it is a lot louder than i expected it to be --it gave me a bit of a shock the first time that i tried it--if it goes of through the night when i am asleep i think it will waken the people next door as well as myself--

Works great!
Bought it for a shed freezer and it works great! Just get a Universal power travel adapter mentioned in the other reviews for UK. For the money a real treat (for once).

Doesn't work
Ordered for use in the UK, came with an overseas plug. The lead wires are thinner than speaker cable that's been on a starvation diet, almost impossible to rewire. Siren on constantly. Haven't bothered to strip it down yet, might use the siren for a burglar alarm when I do!
