Just what we needed
I've been using this for about a week now, and it has been wonderful so far. The cat was waking us up in the morning to be fed, and making herself annoying during the day if we missed her desired meal times. This feeder has fixed that for us.There are some less than stellar parts: - the food dropping into the tray is quite loud and startled all of us for a while until we got used to it. - we never recorded a message to play when the food drops, so this weird non-sound play back happens. It doesn't sound too much different than the sound of the mechanism though, so we just left it. - changing settings (such as number of servings) requires you to cycle up through the numbers, there's no way to go back down. So if you originally set it to 5 and then change it to 3, you have to cycle up through 39 and back to 3. This gets a bit frustrating, but isn't bad once you finally have the settings dialed in. The same is true for the times. - the tray is flat so the food doesn't all push to the front when it falls. This turned out to not be an issue for us, as the cat treats the final back pieces as just another game of pulling each kibble bit forward with her paws to eat it.Overall, I definitely think this was worth the money and gave us a good peace of mind for when we aren't home right on time.

Works fine but cat doesn’t like it!!!
The machine itself works fine but my cat would not eat out of the attached bowl (maybe he is scared of the spitting sound???) and would only eat if I scoop up the food from the bowl myself with my hand then he eats out of my palm. He used the regular bowl fine so I’m not sure why the sudden need to eat out of my hand only. This defeats the purpose of the automatic feeder so minus one star. Obviously this doesn’t work for all cats :( He is in his mid-4s btw.......

It's A Must!
I bought this feeder when there were no reviews, and I'm so glad I did. I have purchased similar products that don't work. The cat food always seems to get jammed or the product wouldn't turn on, so I purchased this with low expectations. I was willing to try anything.I am so excited about this feeder! Not only does it have 4 different meal times, you have 40 different portion sizes to select AND you have an extra wheel to dispense any size food. My cats are on a special diet and the food is expensive, so I'm trying to keep them from over eating and keep from spending so much on food.I love that the feeder uses military time. That's what I use for work, and with my long hours, I am gone for about 18 hours when I do work. Not only does it use batteries, it uses a usb port. So if anything every happens to the cord its an easy replacement. However, the cord is long and thick enough I don't think my cat will chew on it.You also have the camera option to spy on your little babes as they eat, so cute! I absolutely LOVE this feeder!!!

worked great. Cons
It worked as promised. However, instructions weren't clear and concise. After much frustration, I managed to configure feeding amounts and timing. Pros: worked great. Cons: Very difficult to program, the program panel window doesn't light, making it difficult to see and much difficulty opening lid w/o 3 hands (the silo kept tipping). Bottom line, worth the frustration to program (but I got it down pat now). Keeps my cat from overeating! Love it.

Worth the price!
This is my third attempt to replace my older, unreliable automatic pet feeder. The first one couldn't be set up to feed and was returned; the second one was too complicated to setup and also was returned. I was somewhat apprehensive ordering the third feeder but was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to set up and program. I only use two meals a day but you can program up to four with different meal amounts. Cleanup is also easy and simple--just pull out feeder container, feeding tray and clean and replace. My original feeder required many steps to dismantle and clean. I like the fact that it is powered by USB connection. Powered by batteries only is unreliable. The built-in voice recorder is fun--my cats look around when they hear it. It could stand to be a little louder. It took a while to figure out the proper amount of food to dispense as the amounts are in metric (why?). All in all, I would definitely recommend this feeder.

A nice feeder, if it works...!
Initially, I loved this product but after about a year it became a useless pile of junk. And since this is just outside of the warranty period, I guess I'm on the same boat as the other reviewer on here. My guess is that there is some quality/reliability issue with this product.First, the goods :-It was easy to setup. All I did was just set the clock to the right time and the default morning/dinner feeding schedule was good enough.-It's good to be able to swap out the food wheel for different kibble sizes. I changed to the larger one so I didn't have to adjust the portion size on the menu. This also save a couple extra seconds my dog doesn't have to wait for the feeder to spit out food.-The voice playback feature was nice but I eventually didn't use it because my dog can literally sense the feeding time and just sit there waiting for it :)-USB powered w/ battery backup feature is nice. I can even run from my computer USB port if necessary.and now the bad:-As another review pointed out, the food ejection mechanism only drop the food down at the short end of the bowl. I did try to add a paper ramp to try and force the food out to the middle of the bowl. Later on I have to remove this hack (more on this later)-After about a year of worry-free service, the feeder just started to run wild. The feeder will start feeding at ALL time of the day no matter what the set schedule is. Food just start build up inside the bowl. Initially I thought my dog was just not hungry. And then I thought it's because the paper ramp hack causing issue with some internal sensor so I removed it , but the kibbles just keep piling up! I've tried to reset/remove battery/unplug... Anything I can think of to reset the controller inside but nothing works. I guess I have to give up and find another feeder from a different brand... Extremely disappointed...!

Power cord is not cat-proof
Overall this is a decent feeder that has been reliable and good programming options with a wide range of portion settings. Two things I didn't like, was under the impression the feeder would go off still during a power fail using the big D batteries. Nope, batteries just seem to hold the time only. Another issue, the cat is always shoving, jumping on, and pushing the feeder around to get food out when he's impatient, because bumping the unit does sometimes let a few pieces of food fall out. The power cord is just a USB cable and during all this movement its way to easy for the cord to be pulled out and then no feedings. I had to use some strong duct tape to keep the cord from constantly being pulled out.

Does it’s job but clock is trash
It is a bit annoying to set up but that’d be fine if you could set and forget outside of the twice a year that the time changes, however, the clock is inaccurate. It runs slow so the meals keep being given later and later until you go in and have to manually update the time.I’ve got it plugged into the wall for power, and also have batteries inside, so power isn’t an issue. It’s been 15 days since I updated its clock and it’s already off by 6 minutes.Otherwise it does it’s job.

Doesn't work after one day and is NON-RETURNABLE!
Really can't believe it. I was thrilled at first. Thought it was the best cat feeder I had ever tried and gave it a glowing review with pics. I had it carefully programmed so that my cats would get the right amount to help them lose weight. It's unusual that this feeder doesn't give an exact amount for each portion, but I trusted that it would be close enough. It didn't take long for me to discover it was totally unreliable. Each meal was supposed to be about half a cup (I tested this several times, and that's what it was at first). I noticed that the cats seemed to be hungrier than usual, but then I was shocked to see that their lunch was 1/4 cup - half what it was supposed to be. Then the next meal was 2/3 cup - much bigger than it was supposed to be. This is useless to me, so I decided to return it. It's non-returnable! Repeat: It's non-returnable! If you discover it is useless after one day, you're out of luck. Someone who doesn't care about portion size could use it, but I can't. This feeder is not cheap. I've discovered that there are a lot better ones for less. These guys are frauds.Addition: The next day, it was even worse. Not only were the portions the wrong size, the schedule was off. They were supposed to get a meal at 7 and another at 11. There was no meal at 7. There was a small meal at 10. And there was a double meal - two cups - at 11. So I completely stopped relying on the feeder and fed the cats myself. I don't know what is going on with this company. Some people are happy with the machine. Some people mention "the small wheel" as if they received a different model. The photo is stamped with a different name. They refuse to refund or replace defective products. So I reported them to Amazon, and they will be looking into it. I'd stay away from this company if I were you. There are less expensive models with companies that stand behind their products. If you look at the various petfeeders, you see that there are many brands that seem to be selling the exact same model but with different brand names stamped on the front - all made by the same Chinese company, or imitators.

A Life Saver!
Our cat likes to eat throughout the day, but we have a dog that likes to eat her leftovers, and we needed a solution for portion control, as well as timing control for her, so she wouldn't overeat. This feeder also saved us from having to wake-up at 5 am when she started alerting us that she was HANGRY and if we didn't wake-up, she'd start swatting us across the face and or love nibbling on our fingers. Since we love her as much as we do, and didn't want to lose a finger by ignoring her, we opted for this solution. The only thing we'd like to see is better instructions for the portion feeding. For example, each feeding portion is 5 gms, so if you want to feed your pet 25 gm per feeding, you need to do a 5 portion size to get the desired amount. Even then, it's not all that accurate, for example, 3/4 of a cup is actually 14 portions, but according to the conversion unit chart I used, it should have been more than that and we were overfeeding her, so I literally did manual portions (5 gms each) till I filled the 3/4 cup container and figured out how to split up those portions throughout the day.The other thing is the voice recording isn't very good or loud and it's annoying, so I'd skip it all together; and lastly, I would recommend the manufacturer add a light or alarm to indicate when the feeder is empty.Other than that, this is an awesome feeder!

Is as described.
So I did some research prior to purchase. I read TONS of reviews on amazon Canada and US. The reviews for the most part speak for themselves. The pictures are accurate and it does the job. I purchased it because we were heading away for about a week over Christmas. I have a male cat who even though he's been with us for 12 years he still has his stray mentality and tends to gorge eat. There's no way we could leave out dishes and not have the porker eat it all in the first day or two. This did the job. We're still using it. I have to admit he doesn't love it. I use the one machine for two cats. They just share and eat at different times. We've adjusted the sizes of portion and portion times multiple times to find a good fit for us. While my cats don't love it, they seem to tolerate it and lets be real here if they're hungry enough they're eat it no matter what it comes out of. I have noticed my big guy isn't eating as much probably due to not loving it so in the long run if using and your animals don't frequent like they might a bowl I don't know how well this will do at keeping food 'fresh'. I don't really think we've ever experienced stale food yet in general but I have to admit I am slightly worried this machine might give us our first experience with that.
