From Gridiron to Grassland: The Rise and Fall of Britain's Railway Marshalling Yards

Having read other books by Michael Rhodes I was excited about receiving this one and when it arrived I was not to be disappointed; it is bursting with plenty of well researched detail accompanied by many superlative images that help tell the story. If you are a railway enthusiast, or someone who has any kind of interest in the history of the logistics of the general movement of goods, this book will be a compelling read. Thoroughly recommended.

Everything you always wanted to know about UK (and a few foreign) marshalling yards.Profusely illustrated, largely by the author's own photographs.Marred only by frequent references to 'Teeside' and even 'Plaidstow'.
