DSD TECH Bluetooth 4.0 BLE Slave UART Serial Module Compatible with iOS Device iPhone for DIY

I bought two with which I had at first minor problems because it was my first experience with bluetooth and Arduino, I wrote to support and I was amazed with how quickly they answered me (on Sunday) and in a very professional way they helped me solve all my problems and doubts of beginner, both pieces worked perfectly and I am very satisfied with the product and the support service.

Works perfectly. Easy to set up. Construction is of high quality.

It took several attempts to communicate with it in AT mode, but all of that is on my end. I always have a learning curve with small electronics. I could not find one single clear Arduino sketch for the HC-08, and after a lot of editing of other sketches finally got ones that work. I will post elsewhere on the internet with the expectation you can find it because it will be the only one out there. I did contact support. While I easily connected to the HC-08 with my iPhone through the DSD software, I did not realize I could only use the AT commands through a serial monitor. Support got back to me right away on that. It says this in their datasheet, but it's garbled English. Anyhow I needed to change the baud rate, which I also did. Good luck. Like almost all of the electronics I've bought, they work after you figure them out.

I bought this for a project for university as a way to control an Arduino robot or use Bluetooth sensor data for the robot. Yea not happening. You need to get their app to interact with it so if you wanted to run other programs like open cv to return coordinates of objects like I wanted too then you can throw out this as an option right away.Furthermore the apps themselves are even worst. Firstly you cant use a PC to interact with this module from what I can tell and it refuses to connect with anything that is not the awful apps made by this Scammy company.The apps simply do not work. IOS or android the DSD tech app just is not able to send anything to this module. you can type anything you want in the "message" box but you click send and it does not do anything for all I know the "send" button could just be a picture next to a text box because it sends nothing and gives 0 feed back of what it did or if it was successful.This product simply does not work. it forces you to use broken software. it is just garbage even the website sucks. and if you think you can just look around online for help. dont even bother this thing is locked their is barely any doccumenation on hc-08s anyways and even those arent useful when this particular one is locked and does not even show which com port it is using.Do.Not.Get.This.not worth 7 dollars. not worth any amount of money. you couldnt pay me to take this I am so livid it ruined my project and I was only able to find out about this being a paperweight when it is too late to order something else.

I spent about 30 minutes working with it and I couldn't get it to pair with my Moto G5 (android 7.0), or to accept serial data from an Arduino (I definitely didn't burn it, I was cautious to use a voltage level converter).I don't doubt that DSD Tech offers amazing customer support, but I didn't reach out to them which was my mistake. I returned this product which they accepted immediately, and just bought a completely different module.Anyone buying this, be warned: if you don't have the patience to figure out how to make this work and to contact customer support if you have issues, maybe buy something different

I was able to send AT commands and program name and baud rate, no problem. The issue comes when I try to pair to any of my many devices I have, all of them are BT2.0 and BT4.2, the module pairs for a couple of second and it disconnects itself. The electrical levels of board are fine, all 3.3V, I'm a MSEE and do this for more than 20 years. I looked into the review and found out that 10% of the customer have the same problem. I exchange emails with DSD Tech but it seems they are just a manufacturer of the board, no a reasonable answer. By the way I have two prototypes of my project working fine with an HC04. A lot of wiring and soldering I did so I picked the HC-08 as slave, simple but doesn't work for me.
