CDA ECP72SS 70cm Stainless Steel Curved Glass Kitchen Cooker Hood Extractor Fan

Bought this to replace an older model so this was easy to fit. A bit noisier than the old model.

Although attractive I had particuarly bought this as a direct replacement for an older model which had failed. I had hoped that the size and fitting would be identical so I could quickly install it. This is not the case however. The chimney is narrower but a little deeper so it would not fit into the bespoke hole above in the kitchen unit. The four screw holes are in different places (= re-drill and plug the wall). The curved edges of the glass no longer follow the chamfered edges of the existing backplate. Have had to touch up the painting of the wall and will have to replae the boarding above to fit as there's latrge gaps either side now. It's far noisier than the old model too. If I'd known all this I would likely have ordered a traditional, straight extractor which would have fitted to the backplate better.

OK price for and ok chimney hood. I didn't pay too much attention at the time when I bought it as I was doing up my whole flat but this fan is very noisy, if I bought another I would try and get something quieter as the noise is rather overpowering. For the rest it seems to do the job.

As is obligatory in all reviews of cooker hoods, I'm afraid I have to report that this item is rather noisier than I would wish. I guess that's just the way they all are - in looking for a hood for our kitchen, this was the one (within our price range) than had the most unananimous reviews praising its quietness (and a low dB rating). Nonetheless, even on lowest setting it's still much louder than would be comfortable if you were going to be talking to anyone else in the kitchen. I guess for real quietness you need to move up a few price points.Other than that, it's a nice looking unit, with good suction and nice bright lights to illuminate your culinary masterpieces. It was easy-ish to fit, but really needs two people. The chimney section is rather flimsy, requiring a tricky balancing act to keep it extended while you screw it together. Once up there's not much holding it to the wall, but you shouldn't need to go near it again, so this won't be a problem.So, if like me you can't afford a real quality piece of kit, this looks the part without burning too big a hole in your pocket.
