Solid, but not professional grade.
A solid model kit, but certainly not professional quality. There are gaps that are very hard to seal, some pieces were very hard to separate from the sprue, and the pieces do not fit perfectly, resulting in some minor surgery on the kit. Also, there is no option to have the landing gear up, so if you are looking for a straight jet without the wheels down, you are in for some trouble. The folding wings are a fantastic touch though, and the plastic is strong. For this cost and skill level, this is not a bad kit by any stretch of the imagination.

残念
値段だけで買いましたが、20年近く前の中国製で、全体的にバリが多く、組み合わせも悪いです。部品数は少なく、ディテールも甘いですが、その分作りやすいので、星2つ。塗装とパテでの補正は必須です。

The model was quite nice and the fir and finish were very good
The model was quite nice and the fir and finish were very good. I rated it four stars as it only had one pilot and not two. By not providing pilots for every model is a pet peve of mine. It kills the modelers use of either airborn or ground display. I hope it I keep harping on this issue maybe and others who feel as I do the trend will result in giving modelers a choice. You can take a so so kit and make it a work of art if you have the time and patience but without pilots being provided it really limits what is available. I noted other reviews on this product and Revell and Amazon should change the wording to reflect only one pilot is supplied with this kit.

Pretty awful kit.
This kit tends to show the typical quality of Revell kits from what I've seen, which is not a good thing.Similar to other Revell kits of the late '80s, this one has problems with seams, copyright text stamped in plain sight, and poor fitting of parts. In my particular kit, the top and bottom halves of the main fuselage body are fairly warped and don't want to go together well. There was a lot of brown grease all over the plastic, presumably mold release, so expect to do a lot of cleaning. Annoyingly, the panel lines on this kit are raised, so good luck doing a pin-wash.The kit only includes ONE PILOT, no RIO. The details on the helmet and mask were faded, and to use the pilot you'd definitely have to do some sculpting of the plastic. On top of this, ejector pins and flash get into some of the hardest to reach nooks and crannies. Completely lame.

Went together smoothly
Ok, there were a few hiccups that were my fault, but this is a great model for the money. Just plan out each move or two ahead from the directions before you permanently try to glue them together or it will be hard to undo it! The kit has good detail, the decals went on nicely, and there are lots of missiles to go with this plane. The wings also sweep forward and back. I did notice the instructions did not include how to assemble the afterburner pedals around the openings, but it is pretty easy to figure out. This model will not include glue or paints, so you will have to buy them separately. If you have never made a model before, I suggest researching online the proper techniques to do it and put in lots of time. It's worth the extra effort which is the difference between an ok and an excellent model to showcase in the end. (Oh yeah and don't forget the f-14 tomcat is the coolest aircraft of all time!)

A Fun Build for Any Modeler
This model is essentially the same as it was in the early 80s when it first went on sale, meaning you won't find modern features like recessed panel lines and a vacuum molded canopy, but all the parts fit together properly, making it a better choice than other F-14 models with variable geometry wings. It is a great build out of the box for intermediate modelers, and expert modelers armed with sandpaper and a sharp knife can turn it into a fantastic display piece. Anyone interested in creating an extremely accurate F-14 will, however, need to purchase an additional sheet of decals, as the kit only includes the numerals, insignia, and a few panels.Overall, I highly recommend this model for intermediate modelers and experts alike, with the stipulation that extra decals will be necessary to create an entirely accurate replica.

Bad fitting parts
Lots of fine sanding required to make the parts fit even close to correct. There are multiple options for component parts but no explanation what they are.The only weapons option is four Phoenix under the belly, one Sparrow on each wing pilon and one Sidewinder, also on each wing pilon. The Sparrow is a fixed option so if you don't want them, or want to install them in the belly, you must very carefully cut them off of the two piece pilon assembly. The construction process seems to be somewhat haphazard and the colors indicated in the kit aren't really the ones used on the real item.

Really liked the movable wing feature
Another winner for Revell. Really liked the movable wing feature. Had some trouble with the landing gear so my recommendation is to use super glue on them. Turned out to be a nice show piece.

I haven't even gotten past the first step of putting ...
I haven't even gotten past the first step of putting together the cockpit, multi-part seats, instrument panels and joystick. Working on this with my nine year old and the parts are so ill fitting it would be impossible for him to complete this properly on his own. I remember having to fudge some parts when I was a kid, but of the few pieces we've worked with some don't fit at all.

This is probably the best looking plastic model I have made
This is probably the best looking plastic model I have made.. It is rivaled only by the Revell 1/48 scale f-18. Both are exceptionally fine. I am looking forward to getting Revells f-4 in this scale. If it comes close to being as pretty as these I will be happy. I give them all five stars and strongly recommend them.

Just like I remembered
I had one of these exact items about 30 years ago. Enjoyed building it then and since lost it. Fun model to build, especially if you saw Top Gun when it first came out. I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but hey, I bought it a second time, and that means something.

Worth the effort!
As a young man, my favorite hobby was building models; mostly jets, with an occasional Star Wars X-Wing fighter or 19th century naval vessel thrown in for variety. The challenge of building the F-14 Tomcat, with the movable wings and attention to detail on the decals, made this model both fun and time well spent when I was a kid. Now, my son is building this model; well, he and I together... it IS his first model. The look of concentration as my son gets more and more absorbed in the process of making sure each piece lines up perfectly, then gluing and painting, makes my purchase SO worth it!
