Plug and play at a great price.
I used this for a Hackintosh and I'd have to say, really top marks for this. Literally plug and play, it got picked up straight away and works perfectly with the Magic keyboard. I haven't tested the range as I don't intend to use it long-range; it plugs into the back of my monitor and I use the keyboard on my desk. The only thing to take into consideration is that the bulge is more substantial than it looks. If you have USB ports that are close together on the motherboard you may struggle but if you pop it into the front of the case, back of a monitor, etc, you should be good.

Works flawlessly with MacOS10.11.6 El Capitan - just plug and play, no mucking about of any sort needed
Fear not Mac users!! Most of the reviews below of Mac woe were written a couple of years ago. I plugged this into my 2011 MacBook Pro today, running MacOS El Capitan (10.11.6) and it worked instantly, no downloads or drivers or anything. Now, I can't claim that every possible application that needs Bluetooth 4.0 can connect via this adapter, but I was using it for something quite experimental (connecting to a hobbyist bluetooth micro controller), so if that works then it looks very promising! IT JUST WORKS, no fuss or both, just plug it in.

Same model, other chipset
I just received the item. The model is exactly the one I ordered, came nicely and secure packaged (thanks to the seller!).The only problem I have is they the chipset is different than the one I needed, so I can not use the device. That is NOT the fault of the seller, but just the manufacturer, who changed the chipset in the meantime. If you need that device because of the chipset, check it first, to avoide the surprise.Once again - it's not the seller's fault. They sold the exact model I wanted.

Works with OS X 10.8
bought it for my customac, sits on my front panel usb port, works fine out of the box, no drivers needed.Works great with my apple trackpad and wireless keyboardtried it in my rear port (facing back wall) but but gives poor range so best kept in front port, no problems. It flashes a faint blue light when powered but is not distracting.

Yosemite Compatible but has a couple of issues
Nice bluetooth device. Works out of the box for Yosemite and Windows but... loses 2 stars for the following:1. The usb needs to be fairly close to mouse for 100% response time from magic mouse - this means I've got it in a front usb port. At a back usb port, I get like 90-95% responsiveness but that 5-10% when it lagged was really annoying for me.2. No HID built in. This means that bluetooth keyboards (like wireless apple keyboard) win't kick in until the os has loaded. This means you can't access the bios without a separate USB keyboard, or a bluetooth with HID support.

Just does not work. A fundemental problem really.
So after waiting nothing short of a month or so for this adapter to arrive, you can imagine my glee when this popped through my door. Finally, I can use my wireless Apple Keyboard! The only problem is, whilst the adapter was recognised by the system (hackintosh), it wasn't actually able to find any devices! Strange considering both devices wanting to be paired were sat only milometers away. A little annoyed, I had a go at plugging it into another USB slot, then into a USB3 slot think that maybe this little thing was just so up to date, it needed the latest and greatest.Nothing doing. So I place the adapter back into a standard USB port, the next thing I know there's no Bluetooth recognised at all, let alone having devices connected to the thing! I look at the adapter, no longer does it glow beautifully like it did moments ago. It was also extremely hot, and took me by surprise.I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed.

This works with a Mac Pro using the latest OS X Mavericks.
Revealing my nerd status here, I am posting this for the benefit of other users who are having trouble with their Mac's Bluetooth system. If you want a decent BT adaptor, you can use this - I have it and it definitely works with OS X. NOW READ THE NEXT BIT CAREFULLY...OS X DOES NOT select this as the default BT adaptor when you plug it in unless you have no BT installed in your Mac (rare), it is not telepathic. This is definitely not Plug and Play if you already have an active Bluetooth unit in your machine. Really honestly, Apple tech confirms this. You need to download the Apple Developer IO Developer Tools, and use the Bluetooth Monitor to switch off the internal Bluetooth circuit and select this little USB device as the ACTIVE Bluetooth device. If you do not do this, it will simply not be working and you will be wondering why things are no better as the little blue light will be illuminated.I have been struggling wit Macs and Bluetooth ever since the original G5 was released, the thick metal case causes some problems for Bluetooth reception, and buying this 'sort of' fixes it. I also have a better solution, but it is a bit dirty hands, pliers and tricky type fix - Although effective and I have carried it out for couple of other people as a favour.

Works perfectly with Hackintosh Windows 7/Mountain Lion 10.8
Works perfectly with my Hackintosh, I had bluetooth built into my H77N-WiFi motherboard but at startup I would have to wait for the keyboard to connect before I could type my password. This connects instantly!Bear in mind that I had to remove the bluetooth card from my motherboard so that OS X would use the dongle instead of the built in.

Plug and Play for 2010 Mac Pro
Great Bluetooth Adapter for 2010 Mac Pro running Mojave. Also works on Monterey via Opencore plug play (had to keep original Bluetooth connected).Internal bluetooth was not working or weak signal. Instead of buying a new bluetooth card from another pulled iMac I got this Bluetooth USB dongle from search some mac forums.Works great no software needed just plug and play. Note it has no issues when plugged into the back of the Mac Pro in the original USB ports. When I plugged it into my expansion USB 3 port or even the front USB ports it didn't work. So make sure to simply plug it into one of the original three USB ports at the back and your good to go!
