I would like to mention how fabulous these people are
I would like to mention how fabulous these people are. I have Rick Ayers as a professor right now, he has inspired me in so many ways. This is my second semester in his graduate class. I did not even know about this book until I looked it up, I bought it while I was sitting in class, I should have been paying attention but I was too excited to get it. A week later him and his brother, Bill Ayers, had a book talk at school, a bunch of us from the Teaching program went and what we heard was groundbreaking. Being in this field is challenging because there are so many components, it needs a lot of unpacking. Rick and Bill do an amazing job taking their experiences in teaching and their research in education to fully explain these misconceptions within the field. The best part about reading this book was the reality of it, it was not just a scholarly text with data, it had so much depth and perspective.I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone in the education field. Not only faculty and staff but students and parents. Getting the community to gain clarity on the many assumptions of teaching.

A Very Thorough Look at Public Education in the United States
I very thorough look at the teaching profession, public education, and the politics that taint and have influenced education from the beginning until now. This book is well written by people who understand reality and perception - really helpful in current times since truth and reality are becoming "owned" by whoever has the biggest mouth/most visible forum. I highly recommend this book for educators and administrators who really want to understand what is going on and why as a society, we really do not put our "most valuable resource" above money and greed.

It is a good read for teachers
There are so many false narratives out there regarding teachers, the profession, and public education. This book dismantles those falsehoods and discusses some powerful realities. It is a good read for teachers, but it is also a good source for parents and community members who are interested but also invested in saving public education.

A Very Much Needed Publication
I'm buying several more copies for fellow workers at Teachers' Unions. Wish I could afford to buy copies for the entire Texas Leg. ...
