Very nicely made, and great to use, but cane with protective oil, and I removed that but didn’t wax the cast iron surfaces quickly enough and started to rust slightly. Make sure you’ve got some pasts wax or similar to hand when you first use it.Worth the extra effort over cheaper aluminium squares though.

What can you say it is a Starrett! Solid and very accurate tool, comes with a box for total protection. Very pleased that I bought it for a cheaper price. Retail at £149 bought it in Amazon for £106.

A really great bit of kit. It feels well made. Very impressed on the quality of the tool. The makers could have done a bit better with the plastic box that it comes with, I really don't see the box lasting too long, so that may be my next project...

Absolutely top notch. Very accurate rule location with a v groove in teh top as well as the centre. Very clearly marked. OK, they are expensive compared with the numerous cheap clones, but tgey are superbly made, super accurate, tough and come in a sensoble case. I wish I had bought them years ago.

I bought this to replace an Axminster "Precision" square, which was neither precision nor square. I have confidence in this one!

This is a stunning improvement over my cheap one, which had a protractor that was out by over 2 degrees (I used to blame my cutting until I thought to check it!!).The Starrett has a very nice solid feel. In my shopping around I tried several other makes, and Starrett are superb compared to others. Some quite expensive makes feel 'gritty' when you slide the attachments or rotate the protractor, and many protractors I tried aren't at all accurate. The Starrett is nice and smooth.Surprisingly, the Starrett protractor marker lines are much wider than the scale lines (see photo 1) so it is difficult to set accurately. The marker line is centred over the 0 degree protractor line, but out by about 0.5 degrees at 90 degrees. For this money, I probably would not have bought it if I checked it in a shop (see photo 2). I don't know whether mine is badly stamped or whether they are all like this.It isn't totally obvious what a 'reversible' protractor is, but what I got isn't reversible in the usual sense of the word. The protractor works from -5 degrees to 121 degrees (my cheap one went 0-360 in either direction, which seems pretty reversible to me). Perhaps reversible means the protractor can be used either way up, rather than at any angle? But if so, the current Starrett catalogue has mixed up pictures, so it seems it isn't obvious what reversible means even to them. Neither the tool nor its box is marked with its model number, so perhaps I was sent the wrong model?Photograph 3 is of the square on the scale. I wonder why the square doesn't go further across the ruler so that you can accurately measure from either scale. Of course you can turn the rule over but that's tedious, and often it's nice to be able to choose cm/inch whichever is more exact; you can't with the Starrett.So a solid tool, but there are niggles for the price. Curiously, Amazon does not provide a 'Contact Seller' option, so I haven't been able to discuss any of these thoughts with them......

beautiful heirloom tool, endlessly useful. this set sells for close to $300 on Amazon.com in the US, found it for roughly 100 British pounds on Amazon.co.uk. do your homework and be patient, kids...

Ich habe lange mit mir gehadert,ob ich mir dieses Stück Handwerskunst zulege.Im Vorfeld hatte ich langjährig herkömmliche Schreinerwinkel in Benutzung,die natürlich auch ihren Zweck erfüllten,aber nie diese Präzision und Einsatzmöglichkeiten boten.Als Profihandwerker spielt Qualität und Langlebigkeit eine große Rolle, deshalb muss ich sagen:Ich bin begeistert von der Verarbeitung, der Genauigkeit und der Haptik!Alleine die Umverpackung macht schon einiges her und lässt auf ein außerordentliches Werkzeug im Inneren schließen.Die Sache mit dem Schmutz, wie in anderen Bewertungen erwähnt, kann ich nicht bestätigen.Aber selbst wenn da was wäre - Lappen schnappen und gut ist :)Ich kann den Kombinationswinkel mit seinen zusätzlichen Anschlägen und Einstellmöglichkeiten bedenkenlos jedem empfehlen, der so ein Teil regelmäßig in Gebrauch hat.Der Preis schreckt zwar zugegebenermaßen erstmal etwas ab, aber man wird wirklich nicht enttäuscht!In Anbetracht der Tatsache, eine günstigeres Alternative nach Erhalt wieder sofort retourniert zu haben, bestätigt sich wieder einmal die Aussage: „Wer billig kauft, kauft zweimal.“ ;)

I've been using cheap aluminum versions my entire life. This one is much more accurate. It is also much heavier. I have been checking my table saw for 90 degrees.. The aluminum seems to have been off by about a degree and a half. This unit was spot-on. I want to say it's because of the cast iron and it's much less wobbly. The one I used to use is about to go in the trash.

Ed alla fine, dopo averla desiderata per anni, mi sono regalato questo set della Starret. Il prezzo è quasi la metà di quello proposto su siti specializzati in attrezzatura per la lavorazione del legno. Ed è proprio grazie a questo prezzo che ho esaudito uno dei miei desideri.Sulla qualità Starret c'è poco da dire, ben costruita e ben fatta questa squadra è molto precisa (e si, trovare una squadra "a squadra" è un vero problema); appena presa in mano ci si rende subito conto di avere a che fare con un attrezzo professionale su cui poter contare.Sono soddisfatto del mio acquisto; consigliata.
