Good Tenor Ukulele
This is a good sounding well-made ukulele. Great feel to play and the intonation is correct. Reasons for 4 stars: 1. Did not come with batteries or any indication of type/size needed. Found out you need two watch style CR2032. 2. Case was too big inside which caused the ukulele to knock around when carried (not good protection). But the seller was easy to work with and replaced the case.

Great beginner ukulele!
I originally bought this for myself, but then passed it on to my grandkids because I wanted a tenor. Nicely made ukulele with good sound quality. Easy to tune. No frills but great starter instrument!

Great for beginners
Love this ukelele! Beautiful design and craftsmanship and love the sound. It also came with a very nice case. Getting ready to buy another one sound from Kala.

WOW! A really good deal!
As a set from the Amazon reseller Austin Bazaar: What more can one ask for? A fine sounding uke, built-in electronics and tuner! And, a protective case, not just a gigbag, at a price (with free shipping) less than many others charge for the ukulele alone!I confess! If I could have but one uke, it would be a soprano. There's something about the fragility of its tone that haunts me. Anything larger, even a concert, seems to lose it and sound like...well...a guitar, to me, anyway. This one doesn't, at least not as much. It somehow captures a bit of it so that I still feel like I'm playing a UKULELE!The tuner works great. I'm one of those people who keeps a tuner attached to every instrument, but they are either so large that they unbalance the instrument, are small but awkward to read ( Snark S-1 Son of Snark Guitar and Bass Tuner ), or don't stay on well ( D'Addario NS Micro Clip-On Tuner ) The KA-TE's tuner is just right. It's responsive, but not overly responsive, and easy to read. It took me a bit of getting used to in that an up arrow (triangle, really) means the string is flat so raise it and a down arrow means the string is sharp, so lower it. This is the opposite of what I'm accustomed to, but I find I've become used to it.BTW, DO NOT TRIM THE ENDS OF THE STRINGS WHILE THE INSTRUMENT IS NEW! Aquila or not, these strings take days to settle in and will stretch to the point where you fins you have double windings (windings on windings) on the tuning post. This is a bit much (and can lead to tuning machine failure on a U Bass). So, let them stretch in for a few days and then unwind them, take in the slack, and rewind. Eventually, the strings will stabilize and it will be okay to trim them.It may not be obvious how to take in the slack the first time you try it. The uke comes with each string going through the peg hole twice: once as usual, then a half-wrap around the post, and through again. My technique is to* hold the string against the fretboard with my left hand and use a peg-winder to promptly unwind the string with my right hand, all the while doing my best to maintain as much tension on the string as possible with my left hand,* use my right hand to push the excess through the peg hole,* re-tighten the string against the post by pulling on the free end, and finally* rewind string.

Great Beginner Ukulele
I bought this as a gift for my husband. He plays bass guitar and wanted to add Ukulele to his repertoire, inspired by our trip to Hawaii. The quality of the instrument is good, the tuner works well, the bag is good quality. And the shipping was quick. Nothing to complain about.

Pretty good for the price
I’m no expert on Ukuleles -- ask me about guitars, I’ve owned a dozen or more. But this is my first uke, bought somewhat on a whim, and I wasn’t sure what to expect for my modest cash outlay. Now that I’ve spent a little time playing it -- and comparing it to other ukes in local music stores -- here are a few observations:1) I’ve picked up baritone ukes that sound richer, and have a nicer feel. But they cost at least 50 percent more, on up.2) As shipped, it needed to be set up and the action lowered. That’s to be expected. And after that was taken care of locally, the instrument was much more playable. Not as good as some, but decent.3) It stays in tune reasonably well.4) The fact that a hard case, tuner and other accessories were included in the deal was part of the reason I went for it, since otherwise I’d have had to buy those separately. I was concerned, though about how the uke fit in the case supplied. It seemed to slide and knock around a bit. I ended up adding a small piece of one-inch foam between the bottom of the uke and the case. Now it fits fine.5) My verdict that it was decent quality for the price seemed to be shared by the guys at the music store that set it up, who I presume would have rather sold me one of theirs.I bought a baritone uke partly because I travel from time to time, and it seemed an alternative to lugging one of my full-sized guitars. I considered a “travel guitar” instead, but the ones I like are twice the price of this uke. Now that I’m playing the thing and listening to other uke players, I’ve come to appreciate it on its own terms. If I had it to do over? I might have opted to spend more money on an instrument I could really fall in love with, sound-wise and aesthetically. Still, I’m not disappointed -- just not delighted.

Nice Uke Package for beginner and intermediate skill levels
This is the second uke package I purchased from Austin Bazaar. It was securely packaged and all items arrived as described. I purchased the Kala KA-C Mahogany Concert uke. IMHO for a reasonably priced uke, it plays and sounds great.

Beautiful little uke
Beautiful little uke, sounds great! The aquila strings are wonderful, and they can take a lot more stretching from tuning than I expected. I had to get my brother in law to tune it for me, because I wasn't brave enough to crank the pegs quite that much on a new instrument!Future buyers, be aware that the case this comes with is a zippered nylon sleeve. It will keep the instrument clean and makes it easer to carry, but it is not a protective hard case. Once I'm confident enough on the uke to take it places and play with others, I'll be investing in a hard case. The tuner took a little getting used to. We actually did the initial tuning using a different tuner, which I bought for the fiddle a while back. Once we got it tuned, the tuner this came with agreed, but at first it was reading "C" for all 4 strings for a very long time. I was beginning to wonder if there was a hidden 2nd button to select which string I was tuning for, in addition to the type of instrument.

Sounds way better then I thought it would
Sounds way better then I thought it would, lots of packaging so no chance of it breaking during shipment. The gig bag looks alright.
