Safety:DO NOT turn on your UV filter unless it is fully reassembled and water is flowing through it. The UV light is very harmful to the eyes and will overheat without flowing water.Pond Experience:I've been running a 5,000L raised pond for a little over 2 years and a smaller one for years before that. My experience has told me that UV bulbs will last no longer than 6 months with the first 3 months being the most effective. They lose effectiveness after that. For UK/Ireland climate, I recommend replacing the UV bulb in March/April of each year which will give you the most effective use for the summer months, where suspended algae can be a problem. The bulb should be effective enough to keep algae in check during the colder months running at a lower efficacy than when new, but should be replaced in the Spring again.The Order:The replacement bulb from all pond solutions was a late summer replacement for me and so it took a little over a week to clear the algae. It wasn't bad to begin with, but the water was looking a bit cloudy. The bulb didn't fit as well as the one it was replacing....it was slightly loose after connection. It has worked just fine since installation into an all pond solutions UV filter.

Product is what it says it is, but this product could be lethal if not properly installed. There isn't sufficient information on the packaging to warn of the effects of arc eye (burning of the eyes) if you look directly at this bulb when lit. I know I was stupid in not reading the box thoroughly but I didn't buy the product, I just received the box after the girlfriend ordered it, opened it and fitted it, just like you do. It was only that after a few hours had past, I felt I had sunburn to my eyes due to looking at this bulb for less than 10 seconds. A night at A&E and lack of sight for 4 days with medical cream in my eyes is as lucky as I got.Please be careful not to look at this bulb when on.Please do not let children anywhere near.

I've been buying these bulbs for a while as they seem quite good value. Every time I fit a new one my pond clears up nicely but in the middle of summer after 2-3 months it starts going murky/green again even though the bulb is working. I always think to myself that it cannot possibly be the UV bulb as it is so new, and clean the filters like mad/buy sludge busters and then I revert to buying a new bulb, and the cycle starts again. Having had a few now, I've come to realise that these need replacing as often as above, so am trying a slightly more expensive bulb and will see how I get on. Sure enough I've replaced the bulb today after 10 weeks of use and after a few hours the pond is already looking significantly better. Time will tell I guess if I have the same issue with the other brand.

This is the exact same brand and part number that was fitted to my AllPondSolutions filter.But at first it didn't work and I was planning on sending it back but gave it another go - took quite a bit of fiddling to get it working - No idea what the problem is but when I switch it on it doesn't always light up and I need to switch it off and wait a moment before switching on again and it might flicker a little before settling down and working.I put the old bulb back in and that lights up every time without problems - just this new one seems quite temperamental.Anyway - new bulb is back in and working - afraid to tun it off again and I'm checking 100 times a day to make sure it's still working.

Have had to buy five of these bulbs in the last year for my all pond solutions auto pressurised filter system which we only purchased a year ago believing it to be a good system. Uv system is rubbish on it. Waste of £500. They are supposed to be changed once a year. Have contacted the company directly. Constantly being fobbed off that’s when you can get an email reply only from them No other way to contact them. I don’t recommend this company

This was bought to replace a bulb in a pond filter pump - they advise replacement on an annual basis. The replacement was relatively easy for anyone with basic DIY skills. I still have my doubts about the efficiency of these bulbs in controlling algae. This year in particular it has been a problem in my small fishpond and the UV bulb certainly can't cope on its own. You will still have to use one of the many algae removal products on the market if you hope to overcome the dreaded 'pea soup'.7

These bulbs vary so much in price but these are amazingly cheap.I had bought one previously from my local aquarist at a much higher price and it lasted over 1 year.I have bought 2 this time from Pond Solutions, (big spender!), to see if they are as long lasting as my previous one.Because it is hard to believe that bulbs this cheap are reliable so the cynic in me tells me that I have to regularly check that it is functioning I have given myself imposed aggravation.As it happens all seems to be well so I am getting more confident by the day!I don't think you can lose with this purchase because of the price.I have to ask myself whether the other makes are priced with an unreasonable mark up?

this one is a replacement one for the one i already have which is not even a year old, it was switched off for the winter and just this month turned back on, to find it don't work, so i bought a replacement bulb x2 one for a spare to find that is not the problem, so i changed the fuse etc and that does not cure it tryed to log in to allpond salutions and cant, hence i bought a replacement one which i will install at a later date as i have the rest of my garden to sort out first, in a nutshell not happy,
