Well made and very practical...
I ordered this head magnifier not totally sure about the quality. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it and put it to work.the whole thing is made of plastic which contributes to its light weight. the only metal parts are the two screws on the temple areas. the head piece sits comfortably on the head and does not move once adjusted. The magnifiers are quite adequate, so you don't have to bring the job right under your nose to see it, like some of the other counterparts out there. there are three layers of magnification on the head piece which is more than enough for any eye.It also has a nice fluorescent light on the top which works surprisingly well with two AAA batteries which are also included in the package.I think they should improve on the plastic band that goes around the head. It feels too thin and may break if bent.Overall, Im very pleased with this product and will buy from the seller again.

The most useful headset magnifier I've found so far
I have many magnifying instruments for close-up work, ranging from an industrial B&L StereoZoom microscope head to Hastings triplets, jewelers' loupes, and simple glass or plastic magnifying glasses. Some I carry around with me, some I keep in my machine shop, some near my desk. I have found this headset to be among the most useful of all of them. The flip-down closeup lens is a very useful feature, and the round closeup lens is also. The lenses are plastic, but are good quality; distortion is obvious at the very edges, but most of the field is quite sharp, flat, undistorted, and free of color fringes. With the standard lens pair I find the working distance to be a very useful 6 to 10 inches. The magnification is modest but still very useful. Adding the flip-down lens pair, magnification is considerably greater; working distance is reduced to the 4 to 5 inch range - still not bad. The round closeup lens is much more powerful, and working distance is, by optical necessity, reduced to about one and a half inches. This is still useful, maybe because the whole unit doesn't have to get too close to the target, so outside illumination isn't seriously reduced. The max magnification seems very close to my trusty (and expensive) 10x Hastings triplet, and optical quality is not noticeably inferior.I find these to be very well-chosen lens strengths for a wide variety of tasks - crafts, machine-shop work, searching for splinters, even reading small print.I have a big lumpy head, big enough that when I buy a hat I'm well into the XL-XXL size ranges. The headband of this unit is easily large enough that I have no trouble at all wearing it. I also have unusually wide-set eyes, around 75mm interpupillary distance, which is so wide that most binoculars manufactured today are unusable. But that isn't a problem with the optical design of this unit. And I can wear any of my regular glasses under this with no problems at all.The little illuminator up top isn't a bad design, but I don't find the light to be bright enough to be really helpful. I get better results positioning a separate desk lamp close to the work. Mine didn't come with any batteries; it takes two ordinary AAA cells. Take the illuminator - the whole gray thing on top - off the headset to put the batteries in. Pivot it up 90 degrees, and lift straight up; if you have it positioned right, it should lift off without a struggle. Getting the battery compartment cover off can be a bit of a fight, though.Several vendors sell this headset or very similar ones. Mine was sold by WRM Lighting in NY but seems to have been shipped by Amazon. In any case, it looks just like the one in the Amazon photos, and arrived in perfect condition. The price is extremely reasonable for such a useful unit. I'm going to order a few more and scatter them around the house and shop.
