Changing red to black!
The media could not be loaded. We decided to paint the house a month after I had installed 20 yards of red mulch, I really wanted dark mulch with our new color scheme. I couldn’t find anything online about mulch dye changing the color of mulch. I tried a cheaper product a few years ago and wasn’t impressed. But rather than dig the 20 yards out, I thought I’d give Colorback a try. Mainly so that I could have a dark base to put new mulch on top of next year and save my back from digging this all out. I applied one coat, I left it for a while and let my dog turn a bunch of it over exposing the red underside, I also raked some areas over where he doesn’t usually run to get the undersideColorback has impressed me, it did an impressively good job at changing the color of my mulch, I know this year I will see some red because I can’t spray every edge and angle of every piece of mulch but it has saved me from removing 20 yards of red mulch.I will probably be using this yearly even when I’m buying black mulch, I know it will save me from having to do 20 yards every year, changing my red to black I can only imagine how well it will work on mulch that’s already black or is just fading.10/10 would recommendSide note- wear some junk shoes or rubber boots if you’re spraying it by your feet.

AWESOME STUFF!!!
I don’t write a lot of reviews, but This product is impressive. We already have deep mulch in places that we don’t want to dump more on top but it is getting grey and bleached from sun - plus mulch is expensive! A couple of things - we first tried Scott’s mulch color product because we knew the name, but it was a joke compared to the coverage of this product and a lot less expensive $$!!! The wand that came with Scott’s arrived with a near-dead battery and was useless for covering the large area we had to cover. So when we bought this stuff, we used our electric spray paint gun and it worked perfect! Highly recommend!!

Yes it's cheaper than the EnviroColor product but it doesn't cover like it should.
For the last three years I have been using the EnviroColor brand mulch colorant. I started with their brown (2 summers) and eventually ended up with the black stuff. The EnviroColor product worked really great however it's definitely more expensive (twice the cost). Their coverage is 2600sf for about $28 vs this stuff is $56 for supposedly 12800sf.Here is the problem this stuff SUCKS. I'm sorry, there is no other way to state it. I have about twenty arborvitaes and several Australian pines on the property. If you have these you know they endlessly drop needles which are sharp pointy and turn a pretty brown/ orange color, (Being sarcastic about color). Well with the EnviroColor product no problem, just spray them and they totally blend into the mulch no need to spend hours raking them in or trying to get them out of the mulch bed. This product however made ZERO impact on those needles!Secondly sometimes you run into dead leaves. The EnviroColor once again, spray it and it's completely blended into the mulch, this stuff, NOTHING the product just runs right off the leaf's surface leaving it the same ugly brown.Lastly grass, sometimes you overlook a bit of grass growing up in the flowerbed. I've sprayed it and with this product it's still visible, whereas with the EnviroColor product it would just have turned jet black immediately. Now does it color mulch? yes, but even then it's not a dark black like fresh mulch, It took me twice as long to get decent coverage and even then it wasn't great, I even went back and double coated it as per directions and it still looked bad. (I never had to double coat with the other brand) The EnviroColor product gave me a very deep black color and I was able to spray it further away and at a faster rate. Now I will admit that color only lasts about a month (with the EnviroColor) but it does a nice job. I can't talk about durability of this product as I just received my gallon and used 20 ounces (4 gallons) and decided it wasn't worth teh effort to continue. Being a Prime member I just set up my return and will order the product that I know will work. For the record I followed the directions to the letter. My first batch 4oz of product to 1 gallon of water well shaken to ensure it's mixed and the disappointment was IMMEDIATE. OK, so next 2 batches @ 5oz of product to 1 gallon of water and same thing, poor coverage. Last batch 6 yes SIX oz to 1 gallon and still disappointing.I will go back and pay extra to use a product that covers any problem areas I may have, and also saves me time and effort. I might not have said that a few years ago but as I get older I appreciate when things just do what they are supposed to. The main difference between the two products seems pretty obvious while this is mostly a liquid the EnviroColor product is more like a thick tar substance.

Bold color and super easy
Easy to use, dries fairly quick, lasts after rain. I used a deck sprayer which made it quick.Third picture was about a month after I stained the mulch. Oh and I have new mulch put down in other places (last picture) and the color isn’t as nice as the stain. Love the product and will use again!!

Easy, affordable, and looks brand new
I bought this product after years of remulching. I was tired of buying new mulch every year and having to spend hours removing old mulch to make room for new mulch. Got this and a $10 pump sprayer and went to work. Used an old cardboard box to prevent overspray and it looks like brand new. For reference the old mulch was surfaced and chalky looking. Couldn't be happier and it took about 30 min total.
