Fish Tank Gravel Aquarium Natural Substrate Perfect for Plants Growth (30kg, Dark Grey 1-3mm)

Ordered this as I needed an inert substrate where I wouldn't have to worry about the parameters as much. This was reasonably priced and just what I needed for my plants as well.First time setting up a sand tank so I followed the advise to wash the sand. Ordered 20kg for my 125l tank which has given me a 4-5cm layer throughout. I read somewhere on here that it was recommended to wash this only once.... DEFINITELY NOT. I had to wash this sand alot! Rinsed each 10kg bag in a large bucket, filling it with water, stirring and then draining.... 10 times. Even after the 10th rinse it wasnt clear but was alot better than if I only washed it once.In the tank it looks amazing, it seems to hold down plants alot better than fluval stratum which i have also used previously. There are no fertilisers/nutrients in this but those can be added. Free clay balls were also provided so that was nice.The water is still a little cloudy but hopefully this clears in a few days. The fish seem to like it, don't have any bottom dwellers but my rainbow shark looks alot happier.Can't fault it so far, as expected. Hope it is really good for the plants I will be adding in the next few days.

Wash this substrate well before putting into your aquarium, other than that it's absolutely great

Yes you have to clean it well but that is the same for all of them. It is a nice looking gravel and a good uniform size of grains.

Nice looking gravel but very dusty, I had to clean it 6 or 7 times before I could add it to the tank

Good gravel not to hard to clean, I found that if you put small amounts in a fine mess sive and run water through it to wash the worst of the dirt out then give a final wash in a large container you can then see how clear the water is …….downside is that the bit of free wood was very small and disappointing

Worried at first because the product went to the local post office but Amazing told me I needed to contact the courier but provided no details on their list of couriers available. Seller was very helpful.The amount was perfect for 70l tank.Need to clean prior to putting in tank but easily done.
