This is not waste free, squirrels do not eat corn at least not where I live and the seeds still have debris once the bird has finished eating it but it's still better than having the sunflower seed shells everywhere. That is why it doesn't get a five.

Birds love sunflower seeds. However, it is very hard to love the shell refuse. Everything in the bag is already shelled. It does cost more but the lack of mess is worth it.
