Great great product.
More than well worth the cost which is quite low to start with. Super super easy to install. Color is fantastic and matches the rest of the receptacles in this 17 year old home. The amount of light displayed by these outlets is more than adequate and does light the way without blinding a person. They look like they have always been in this house. I had planned on two for each room to start with and that is what I installed however, I also plan to buy additional SnapPower Guidelights for the off on and safety outlets in my home. Fantastic product.

Follow up to my negative review
They do work after all. Problem is that all my outlets have the Ground UP, not down as in most houses. There are two solutions to this : 1) Install the Snap Power Guidelight with the LED's on TOP so that they shine upward, OR 2) Remove your outlet mounting screws and rotate the outlet 180 degrees so that the Ground is now on bottom (after turning power off at circuit box, of course). This 2nd option is what I did because I wanted the LED's to shine down to illuminate the floor of a dark hallway. The instructions are in very tiny print, under "Troubleshooting" on page 8 it states "Products must be installed with the LED's or USB port on SAME SIDE as the ground of the outlet", and there is a illustration showing the two options I just mentioned. Now that are installed and working, they work VERY well, going off if other ample lighting is present, and look very nice in the dim or dark hallway. Although the installation looks easy enough, showing nothing but Ground down illustrations, sometimes it helps to slow down and read ALL directions, including troubleshooting.

The actual dimensions w/review
These lights are fantastic and the color matches standard covers. When you ask what are the actual dimensions you typically get the answer "They are standard 3x5 outlet covers. THATS NOT WHAT WE ASKED LOL.These outlet covers measure 3 1/8 (3.125) in. X 5 1/8 (5.125) in.I just built a home and the outlets that the builders use are 3 3/8 x 5 1/8 this lets them hide bore holes in the drywall easier. I bought another brand of outlet cover and they only measured 2 15/16 x 5. There is a huge difference between 3 3/8 (3.375) & 2 15/16 (2.9375), almost a half an inch! (0.4375) though both would be considered 3x5 covers.I have installed 11 of these covers in my house, basically they are in every hallway & bathroom. I avoided putting them in any sleeping area or living room space but I can literally walk around my entire home at night with the lights off and can still see fairly well. The long LED bar is also very nice, the light will slowly intensify as it gets dark. The sensor is very sensitive to any ambient light so they even shut off in my laundry room once a certain brightness is achieved. I love em and everyone who comes over at night comment on them.

Sturdier than the knock-offs
I bought a cheaper generic version first and while the lights on it work fine, there's definitely a quality difference in the actual outlet cover (this one is much thicker and the Westek one bends in where it screws into place).I was under the impression that I could change the direction and install these upside down and have them shine either up or down, but that was not the case in my house. They work fine down but will not work upside down at all (ditto with the generic brand). They really are simple to install. I had no obstructions. I admit, I didn't bother turning off the power, probably like 90% of the users out there.I have a lot of outlets that are double size (two outlets side by side) and also a lot of light switches that are operated on a 3-way switch (the same light has a light switch in two different locations) and neither of those seem to be accommodated by this company yet, but I wish they were.

no more hitting plugin nightlights
I've been seeing these since they first started up and wanted to get some for the house. Now since we had another baby and didn't want to deal again with him pulling lights out of the wall plugs we went ahead and ordered a package of these guidelights and installed them in the bedrooms and throughout the house. It's very nice having automatic lighting and night lights for the kids. I did find out immediately how pourly the dray wall was cut/trimmed around the outlet boxes when installing these. I had to keep a utility knife with me while going from outlet to outlet to trim the rough/built up drywal/plaster so these would fit flush. obviously the backside is not hollow and the hole has to be clearance. This is not an issue of the guidelight but people should be aware of.
