Firstly, the NVR works just fine, it is no different than one purchased through distribution with the exception it was designed specifically for ADT. It comes with a ADT chipset and firmware. DO NOT attempt to upgrade the firmware without involving HikVision Technical Support. You will brick the unit.

Arrived in one day and works well. However, the unit did not come with the ir remote or the rack ears that hikvision's website says are included with this model... Those things inspired me to buy this model, because I very much needed both of those things, but I have neither and now have to spend more $ and search for someone who's selling those accessories. Also, dont worry about firmware updates on this unit, I also discovered that it's discontinued and there will be no more updates, ever!

There’s lots of confusion on which app to use. Manual says one thing. Hikvision website says no longer supports that app there’s another. And trying to configure the correct app is impossible from the log in screen. Hikvision support is useless

The app is disappointing, what is the purpose of this app if I cannot view my property when I’m away from it. It has defeated my main purpose for purchasing this item.

I was pleased with the quality of the product, however I have uncovered several major concerns when trying to get product support.I accidentally locked myself out of the admin account and consulted the manual for a reset procedure. The manual states to "contact your supplier with the serial number" for a reset code. When I contacted Super Duper Specials, they informed me that there technician was on vacation and they could not help me until Friday July 30th.I then turned to the actual manufacturer, Hikvision, and when I gave technical support the serial number, he advised me that he could not help me and that this product was not authorized to be sold by Amazon.This was not the cheapest setup to purchase and as much as it costs they should have top notch product support.

The first thing you have to do is setup the hard drive or it will keep beeping. It doesn’t have one so you will have to buy one and either install it your self internally. When I tried to add an external hard drive it didn’t recognize it. The user manual is not user friendly either. Buyer beware unless you are a tech guy.

Before you buy this camera, google search "Hikvision banned in US." You might not want to support this company, let alone give it a back door into your home internet network. Note: Dahua, Amcrest, Reolink, and several other rebranded cameras are in the same boat as Hikvision. If you search for "NDAA-compliant cameras" you can find ones that avoid the negatives of the many brands using banned components. There are fewer options, but it's way less risky (and you're also not supporting a really bad organization).
