Fantastic little scale, accurate, light, and such great value!
I've been using the scale now for a week, and wow I wish I had bought it sooner.I've had other scaless in the past, but they were unreliable, and always stopped working after a while. This salter scale I have found to be very accurate and so easy to use and set up.I didn't buy this scale for baking I bought it for weeing small weights of things.I sell things on an online marketplace and the postage costs, are always being changedI found half of the items I had on sale, were raised to double the price of their actual postage, and I was selling things without having the time to change any listings, as I had so many things for saleThis salter scale has saved me so much moneyI actually made the money back that I paid for it, almost immediately, as half of my items where much less than the postage being charged. This really surprised me, and this scale weighs the lightest of grams, very accurately, without me having to do any work at all.I am so pleased I purchased this scale, and I'm sure it will continue to save me lots of money and further my business.

Seven years and counting
I’ve had these Salter kitchen scales for 7 years. When I first bought them I knew them to be good quality, accurate and a reasonable price. They also look good and are a nice size to put away in a kitchen drawer. They can toggle between four different measurements (metric and imperial, solid and liquid) and when switched off retain a memory of the last setting used.I’ve used these so many times over the years it seems barely credible that they still work. The battery life is good, especially for a CR2032 cell battery. Most recently, I’ve been using these to weigh dry and wet ingredients for my Panasonic breadmaker and it works quickly and efficiently. Resetting tare weight between ingredients is easy and changing between grams and millilitres is similarly straightforward. The only negative part of the whole experience is that the digital readout on the scales gets obscured by larger bowls. I’ve obviously put up with this for 7 years, so it can’t be that big a deal! The bowls I’ve been using aren’t that big so I’ve been getting away with it.But that slight negative can’t change my overall opinion of these scales; they are excellent and if I can ever wear them out I will buy another of these.

Excellent, but with some limitations
These are a nifty small set of scales that do a lot of things well. They have some limitations and are not the only scales you'll ever need but provided you're aware of those limitations in advance, I recommend them.First, the good things. These scales can weigh in a range of units; pounds and ounces, grammes and kilogrammes, fluid ounces and millilitres. Switching between these comes with the push of a button, so there's no need to convert between units if you're using an old recipe; it also helps if you're trying to convert an old recipe to modern units. They can be zeroed easily, which has been very handy for me when using a breadmaker; I just pop the breadmaker's bowl on top, zero the display and I start adding things, zeroing between each addition. No need to weigh things separately, nor even to measure the water as I can just switch the units to fluid ounces and pour. I've done the same with a pan whilst making parkin too, which makes adding syrup and treacle a good deal easier. The scales are small - even though the size is given in the product description I was surprised at just how small they are. They're also quite slim and this makes them very easy to store. The surface is easy to clean; just a wipe will do. The scales will also tell you when you've placed them on a surface which isn't stable enough for them to weigh accurately, and when properly positioned - a worktop surface is fine - they weigh accurately in all their units. So what's bad? Their size is both an advantage and a disadvantage. The area on which you place things is only about five inches across, and larger bowls and pans won't fit. Bowls with a good curve may also obscure the display, which means that seeing whether you've measured out enough or too much of an ingredient can be tricky. They don't come with a bowl like old-fashioned scales, so you need to use one of your own; this makes that 'zeroing' feature a necessity. The advantage of being able to add ingredients and zeroing the scales before adding the next one is removed if you need to weigh flour and then put it through a sieve, as this means using a separate bowl to measure the flour and when I've had to do this, I've dug the old scales out and used them. And they are electronic which means that if you're clumsy enough to spill lots of fluid on them they won't like it, and at some point they'll need a new battery and you just know this will be when you need them in a hurry. So they aren't the only set of scales you'll ever need and as I said above, I still have and sometimes use my old scales; not often, but even so. But provided you buy these knowing the limitations they have and treat them with care they'll serve you well and I am happy to recommend them. I use them more than I imagined I would and am very happy with what they do.

Nice, accurate, slim and easy to use
Just replaced our ancient Salter scales (circa 1995 and still accurate and working just as they did when new) to get 1g resolution and a more modern design.

Highly Recommend, very accurate for small amount
I absolutely love this scale.I used to think I didn’t need anything fancy for measuring ingredients, so I kept buying cheaper options but I ended up throwing away two of them already. After seeing so many good reviews, I decided to give this one a try, and I’m really glad I did.The biggest difference is how quickly and accurately it responds. I make soy milk at home, so I often measure small amounts of soybeans. With cheaper scales, the weight would take a few seconds to update, which was really frustrating. This one reflects the weight almost instantly, even with small quantities. So far, I haven’t noticed any downsides.Highly recommended!👍Pros- Fast and responsive weight measurement- Accurate even with small quantities- Much better than cheaper alternatives👎Cons- None so far

Familiar Brand
Sticking with a brand I associate with weighing machines and not at all disappointed. Great value for money. Looks good and feels really sturdy. The display is great and setting to zero makes usage really easy. Just the right size and works really well, weighing both fluids and solids.

Design:The Salter 1036 Kitchen Scales look incredibly stylish and modern, which look great in my kitchen. I purchased these scales in black, however they are also available in Silver and White, if you prefer. These scales are very small and compact in size, so I can easily place mine in my kitchen cupboard, when I'm not using them. They are also very lightweight and feel very well made. So hopefully these scales will last for many years to come.Features:The Salter 1036 Kitchen Scales can weigh your ingredients in a range of different units, including pounds, ounces, grams, kilograms, fluid ounces, and millilitres. Its very easy to switch between the different units, just press the unit button on the scales. It will always go back to the last unit you used, when you use these scales again. Any measurements are shown on the LCD screen on the front, in an easy to read format. And the scales have a maximum weight capacity of 5kg/11lbs, if you wanted to know. One of the best things I love about these scales is that I can weigh everything in the same bowl, meaning less washing up for me. All I have to do is place the ingredients into the bowl, and when I have the right amount, press the zero button and it will put the weight back to zero, even with your ingredients still on the scales. And then you can just keep added ingredients and then putting the weight back to zero. These scale are powered by one one lithium CR2032 battery (included). The CR2032 batteries are not that expensive to replace, I think on Amazon, there about £4.00 for a pack. The battery on my scales has not ran out yet, so I can't comment on how long the batteries will last unfortunately. Also with these scales, there is a 15 year manufacturer guarantee. I seen another reviewer say you had to jump through hops to get a replacement though, however I wouldn't personally know as I have never asked the company for a replacement, and hopefully will never have too.Performance:The Salter 1036 Kitchen Scale came incredibly well packed, and feel very well made. It is also very easy to use. There is only two buttons on the front, so anyone should be able to use these scales with ease. Just simply turn the scales on by the on/off button (also zero button as well), place a bowl onto the scales, press the zero button, and then your ready to start weighing you ingredients. Its as simple as that. However if you need an instruction manual, there is one included, which opens up like a poster. The included instructions is very easy to follow and understand, with simple diagrams. As I mentioned before, you can weigh all your ingredients in the same bowl. So every time you want to weigh a new ingredient, just press the zero button and it will put the weight back to zero. So no more needing to weigh everything separately, which means less washing up for me to do afterwards. The scales seem very accurate when weighing different ingredients, and the display is very easy to read (even from afar) with fairly large numbers. The scales are also very easy to clean, as most of the time, they just require a quick wipe over with a soapy cloth.Overall I am incredibly happy with my purchase, and would highly recommend these scales to anyone.

Weighing all options
Our former, much trusted kitchen scale that we bought 18 years ago was getting a bit dated and needed to replace its batteries. My chef-de-cuisine however suggested to order a more up-to-date replacement scale, one a bit more efficient to store given the chronically limited storage space in our inner city house.Amazon offers you a very vast and wide range of kitchen scales. As you will have noticed, you can get digital sales from a little as £8, I’ve no doubt these will do their job fine as there is little differentiation in basic functionality between scales. However the look and size does differ. But more importantly THIS ONE IS REALLY USEFUL!In the end we ‘splashed out’ on this Salter-branded scale, the white variant. And paid a dizzying 200% premium above the price of the cheapest range scales. At least for that price the batteries were included. However feel quite good about the purchase. We were looking for one that was aesthetically pleasing, with a flat/slim design. And were not disappointed on most aspects. The first benefit is that most of your bowls will fit on this scale. However its mostly the ‘weigh’ feature that stands out; it allows you to measure multiple ingredients in the same bowl, without requiring you to wash up all the time. Just put your bowl on the pad before turning it on, as it will then start at zero. Alternatively set the scale back to zero with the ‘on’ button in the process of adding several ingredients, before you add further ingredient – this helps you to very accurately weigh the amount of added ingredient.I must say I’ve got mixed feeling about the scale’s appearance. It’s smaller than I expected. It’s flattish, rectangular shape and looks fairly stylish, at least more elegant than the cheapest scales. As such the scale fits well within our range of kitchen equipment. Its feels heavy and sturdy. And when you lift it, you can feel the mechanism at work. The stainless steel top is fine. At the same time the glossy plastic white cover of the rest of the scale looks good, but feels a little flimsy. I can see it being damaged or cracked over time so I wonder about durablity. Having said that, the manufactures advertises a 10 year guarantee.Furthermore there are only 2 buttons on the device, one for on/off and one for the type of measure you require. Now, the on/off button also doubles as the weight reset to zero which was a little fiddly at first. The scale is also quite versatile, and least more so than our previous one with a fixed bowl, as this one is also great for weighing our many Ebay parcels up to 5 kg where without accuracy you’re exposed to postage issues. All in all; despite the few issues, very pleased with the purchase & highly recommended
