I've been using my honing tool in the knife block for years. Now that I have this whetstone I can't believe how sharp my knives are! My wife said that she's afraid to use them now. 😆One note though, I've seen comments here about mold developing on the bamboo base. The problem may be the that the stone is still "wet" when storing on the base. I've let my whetstone out on the counter for several days before storing away on the base.

I recommend this for sharpening knives of any type. It is better then any other wet stone I have used (not that I am some expert here). You are supposed to soak it in water to push out any air then use it like any other wet stone.It did a fab job on my kitchen knives. I prefer this to the simple round knife sharpeners usually advertised.

Cost effective whetstone comparable to Japanese made ones at 1/3 the price.
