Solid 4 stars, good, worth seeing
I saw this in a theater as soon as it was released and bought this dvd as soon as it was available. This particular dvd does not have any special features, which was disappointing, but maybe later releases do. As for the film itself, I liked it. This is not a lighthearted romance or comedy, but it does have moments of those elements. It’s a serious issue, the lack of toilets available in these villages and likely some urban areas as well. The movie managed to be entertaining while focusing on the reasons-cultural, religious, and political-behind this situation and why it’s not so easily resolved. While I thought the performances of Akshay Kumar (as always, confident and sure in his role) and Bhumi Pednekar were excellent, I never felt any real chemistry between them, so I couldn’t invest as much into that part of the movie. More like, why would he pursue her so strongly, she didnt seem to give much back. Anupam Kher was, as always, wonderful to watch, but the rest of the cast seemed “off”somehow, not the caliber of supporting cast that’s usually in Kumar’s movies. Just my take on it. I’d have rated this upwards from 4 stars, but for the lack of a spark that seemed to be missing. Overall though I do commend it.

Best Bollywood movie I've seen in YEARS!
This movie is fantastic. Not only a great social justice film, but also bright, fun, and a great romance story. Really rare to find a film that's both thought provoking and delightful to watch. The acting and pacing are top notch and they hit upon alot of issues involved with women's access to toilets in much of rural India.

Really interesting subject. I had no idea that this practice of not having access to a toilet is still a part of many peoples life in India.Akshay Kumar picks the films he is in well.

Could you live without?
At first glance you would say is it a typical Bollywood film. With the music and the love story and typical Indian humour. But if you look further, it's about a more serious issue people in western countries probably don't even know exists anymore in the 21st century. Toilets. Funny? Not really. Watch the film and you will know what I mean.
